GhostBusters 3 is Finally Being Made. (2020 Release)

My only problem with Janine, is that I really like her and Louis together, I thought they were a great match.

I wonder if this will annoy fans because it makes it look like Egon was a dead beat dad who was never there for his daughter.

I hope it's Janine. I rather pretend Louis never existed. :p

The premise definitely sounds promising. I'm looking forward to the trailer.

Hmmm, makes me wonder what all that GB stuff is doing in Oklahoma. Does this mean that one of the GB eventually retired to the country? Still, that's kind of far from NY and lends an air of mystery to it all. Still, I'm glad to see there might be a change in location.

I don't know about dead beat but I couldn't imagine Egon not wrapped up in his research so much that any children would probably call him an absentee parent. Dead beat implies to me he doesn't care, though, I'm sure he cared but couldn't follow through like so many people that have jobs that demand so much of their time.

Egon was always a bit detached from normal human behavior. It’s more so in the sequel, he’s still joking around in the original it’s just extremely dry.

That would be my guess too, that he cares, but is just always distracted by ghost busting, or whatever post Ghostbusters work he ends up doing. That would seem pretty in character to me.

Yeah, that's definitely the impression I got from the article. I think that's a nice way of working Egon into the story without Harold Ramis. I wonder if Callie's mother will be anyone significant?
Upthread, I theorized Callie is the offspring of Vinz Clortho and Zuul (which would tie into the Manhattan Crossrip that this movie is supposed to center around).

Working together on Groundhog Day broke the friendship.

Ramis' daughter wrote a book and a relevant quote can be found here:

On the plus side, when Ramis was near the end and unable to speak, Murray did surprise Harold at his house to talk and laugh and make ammends.
I always figured Murray was the primadonna in these things but if it's true Ramis got physical with him I don't blame him for pushing him out of his life.

Odd synchronicity. Watchmen is doing a very similar story. Insanely similar in its set up.

Had always thought it was the other way around and it was Murray that had gotten physical. Obviously he said something that pushed Ramis too far. It's a shame that they fell out for so long. They made really great movies together.

I'd imagine Egon to actually be a pretty good father. If you think about it, out of all of them, aside from Ernie, would be the most devoted. Here's how I picture the scenario:

Egon eventually marries, to who, we don't know, but it could maybe be someone new we haven't seen before. He marries her on the condition that he retire from public life, and they move to be closer to her parents in the countryside where they buy a farm, and brings along the bulk of the EQ with them. But Egon being the inventor that he is, never stops tinkering. He might have developed new technology which the kids might eventually discover and use against whatever this new emergence is.

I dunno. The Egon as builder is very Real Ghostbusters. In the film he’s very much the theory guy and Ray does the building. It’s a partnership.

Well, I HATE any movies/shows about pre-teens going on adventures (stuff like Stranger Things, Stand By Me, The Goonies, etc), so this looks pretty bad. Then again, its cast will probably still be more talented then the last film (I fully support an all Female Ghostbusters team, to be clear, but the last film just had a really shitty cast), and its not being made by a director/writer obsessed with terrible gross out humor, so it will still probably end up being better then the 2016 film, although I'll probably still consider it a bad movie.

That‘s as much a glowing anticipation post as one can expect.

I agree it's a partnership, idea-wise, but I always pictured Egon as the builder, even in the two live action movies. He's the one with the PKE meter. In part two, Egon has the Giga meter. He's got the best toys. He has the negative emotion detector in part II. Also, we see him tinkering with a neutrona wand while they eat the Chinese food. He's also the one working on the slime blower in part II when Venkman calls. Stantz I always pictured doing the day to day mechanical stuff (like fixing up the Ecto-1) while Spengler handled the Ghostbusters' "little toys."
