Spoilers The Mandalorian | Disney+ | Streaming Nov. 12

I'd advise people who haven't seen it to literally just skip to episode 3.
I advise people not to listen to Crewman6.

Episode 2 was good.
I was a little surprised they just had him disintegrating so many of the Jawas. The whole sequence with him going after the Sandcrawler was pretty cool.
Loved the stuff with baby Yoda, especially him saving the Mandalorian from the creature.
Kuiil was pretty cool, I was glad we got to spend some more time with him in this one.
I was shocked how short it was, but it worked.
So I had a crazy thought while I was watching the episode, maybe the baby Yoda is a literal Baby Yoda. As in a clone of Yoda himself that Palpatine or someone else had created. The only problem is I'm not really sure if the timeline would work for that.

I'm guessing his species is just naturally intune with the force. But they're also very rare, which is why there aren't a bunch around.

Maybe they don't breed very often?

I was kind of surprised to see him popping Ewoks! I know he's supposed to be a bad-ass but this is Disney after all. They seemed to take it pretty well at least, probably excited about claiming their spoils.

It was extremely callous. He straight up murders three people, but the show itself downplays it as much as possible. The other Jawas seem only mildly annoyed by it and even Kuiili doesn't even react when he casually mentions that he did it.

Are the jawas full sentient? I mean they are, but in that society, are they more creatures that happen to have a scavenging culture? Maybe because their culture can't evolve that they are not considered regular creatures?
(I really like this, because this is a setting where people straight up die, and while we can take the moral high ground here, the rules are off-set by the sheer will to survive.

I'm guessing his species is just naturally intune with the force. But they're also very rare, which is why there aren't a bunch around.
It's been established that force sensitive infants are preternaturally able to do things that would take adults a great deal of focus and training to achieve. So much of Jedi training is in letting go of preconceptions, it makes sense that an infant wouldn't have that same block.
For a species that spends at least half a century in such a state of innocent openness, it's no wonder they're naturally strong in the force.

Maybe they don't breed very often?
It's all relative. To a species that can live to around 900, humans and are like mayflies.
Plus from an evolutionary standpoint, a species that lasts that long *can't* breed all that often or in great numbers or else they'd overrun their ecosystem and would have gone extinct before they became sapient. Alternatively, if their numbers had been kept in check by predation then they'd have again gone extinct once they became tool users.

at the end of the episode, the baby was unconscious for what may be days after lifting the beast.. using the Force like that really tired him out.

Yoda lifting the X-Wing tired him out.
Luke lifting the X-Wing tired him out .. and he failed.
Yet Rey (I still call her a mary sue) lifted tons of boulders and was NOT phased at all.. when by all rights it should have made her unconscious, where Finn would have to carry her onto the Falcon (perhaps a mirror of the end of the the first film, where Rey looks after him, he could have looked after her).

But I digress.
I think this episode only feels like it has nothing to offer the story.. yet it will be very difficult for him to turn the child over after this.

I think the threads you are looking for are here and here.

Sure.. I can stop. But keep in mind on ALL of these threads people are taking not-so-subtle pot shots of the original films. I

All's fair in love and war.
I mean here I am making my arguments, and EVERYONE here is shredding me for them.. it's like they are ganging up on me.,

These stories are all related, yet I bring up TLJ and all of the sudden you guys are going to call me out.
STop it.
It's all fair

If you have a problem with it maybe address it with the mods?

I don't.
My point is that the mythology is all connected.

Fine. You’re right. Rey doesn’t show exhaustion in that moment. However, you’re at a point in the story where you are trying to have your main characters escape and quickly, not a lot of time for that. Is it perfectly executed based on previous Star Wars stories? No. Does it make sense in the storytelling considering the fact that on occasion you gotta take shortcuts? Yes. Are there such storytelling shortcuts elsewhere in Star Wars? Yeah there are. And we wave them away because they’re understandable shortcuts TO KEEP THE PLOT MOVING. So stop whining about Rey because shortcuts happen in every other Star Wars movie.

I like the music and the scenery but I was falling asleep during that. Not a lot happened and I’m still looking for some more exposition as to why I should continue this series, like the setting, what is happening in this universe, something of a backbone to build this series around. Right now it’s a guy with Baby Yoda who is flying off...somewhere.

I want to like this series because I’ve never followed a Star Wars TV show before and this is an original of a brand new streaming service. I just want a reason to care.

One positive I did take from that episode: Baby Yoda is adorable. Loved every shot he had.

Kind of like Luke doesn't really mourn his aunt and uncle or Ben, save for brief moments, and then promptly moves on. Pacing sucks some times.

talk about moving the goalposts.
Part of the original ANH scene WAS pacing, part of it was the serialized, Buck Rogers-feeling pulpiness of it, they had to pick what they dwelled on.
But now the universe has been expanded.. and the Force and how people use it has to have some kind of running consistency.
Not just Rey, I also have issues with broom boy pulling the brook towards him without any effort.
Since characters like Ebony Maw from Marvel can do it without effort, I think even sometimes the makers of SW realize that it should requite effort. All the mystique of what makes SW great is evaporated when you don't

Since I don't see the inconsistency then I guess SW is no longer great for me...
