Spoilers Batwoman - Season 1

People seem to be very Critical About this show online but I didn’t think it was that bad. I enjoyed the two I’ve seen so far. I assume with this being TrekBBS and the majority of people here seem to like everything that people are more accepting of it. :)

Though some of just taking the usual shit-on-a-show cos it's got a female lead brigade who are double pissed because Batwoman is lesbian played by a lesbian while they're too fucking stupid to know that the character has always been gay.

I don’t get the lesbian fuss since there are already multiple gay people in the ArrowVerse. Plus there was also that story a year ago that people of the gay community were angry at the casting because they felt she wasn’t gay enough. Got a good laugh from that one. :)

Yeah, but the gay characters up to this point have all been supporting characters, this is the first lead who is gay. Well, I guess Sarah has kind of ended up the lead for Legends, but that's still a bit more of an ensemble show.

The first live-action Arrowverse lead who's gay. The title character of the animated Freedom Fighters: The Ray was the first overall (although FF:TR isn't actually consistent with Arrowverse continuity despite being nominally set in it).

Although maybe the first is Constantine, if you're willing to count his bisexuality being retroactively established after his self-titled series was cancelled.

Re: The Crows and the GCPD: My understanding is that the city has, by order of Mayor Akins, placed The Crows in charge of all major law enforcement, effectively downgrading the GCPD to a supporting role, which is why we see Crows members "taking point" on things like the hunt for the Wonderland Gang and what was originally a "kill mission" to take down Alice.

The Ray had an animated series on the CW Seed, and I have questions about Kara's sexuality, if she's from a clone race that exclusively reproduces artificially.

I have to confess I don't remember exactly how it played out, but couldn't it be that she is just still pissed that she married someone else, but could just move once she gets over it.

Kate getting over it--instead of trying to place any doubt in Sophie's mind about her relationship--would be way for her to go, as part of her overall maturation / transformation in life. Like most superhero characters, who they were the day before hitting the streets in costume usually becomes a memory of a faded past, as they know it changes their entire life, for better or worse (e.g. Peter Parker). Worse includes Kate wanting to reconnect with her father, but her life as Batwoman (in or out of costume) is already erecting a partial barrier to that ever happening, no matter how much they love each other.

Oh, and I would like to see her use a Batmobile--even if it turns out not be her "fit" after a few episodes--just to see Kate and Luke explore that end of Wayne's arsenal. Surely she would wonder about such a storied mode of transportation/offense? In the end, she will use the motorcycle, but it would an interesting adventure.

Motorcycles in the rain and snow suck (remember the comment about getting the Bat-suit wet). Gotham is known for its lousy weather. Maybe the Batmobile will come out in the winter? :techman:

The show is better than I expected, however Rachel Skarsten as Beth Kane isn't working for me. I don't know if it's the character or the actor but since she's obviously going to be a central character, I have to either get over it or pass on the show.

They seem like they're a private army in the city's employ, but mainly focused on protecting rich people.

Good observation! Of course, I doubt real world weather conditions will ever get in the way of a motorcycle zooming around rain or snow storms. Still, it would be cool to see her just try to use a Batmobile for an episode or two.

Doesn't look like that cave even has a place for the batmobile to park, so it's probably back at the main cave under Wayne Manor which it seems neither Kate not Luke are aware of.

The batmobile is kind of a weird artefact from the comics anyway. I mean it's iconic so you sort of have to include it somehow, but it just doesn't make a lot of sense in a modern city. Even the batcycle pushes the credibility that anyone could appear or disappear driving those things without being noticed and/or followed.

I doubt she'll drive a Batmobile soon on account of cost to make one, unless they crank out the Futura for the crossover. ;)

I never thought of that -- none of the Arrowverse superheroes has a cool, iconic ride, except for the Waverider. I think we've seen Team Arrow use motorcycles on occasion, but there's no customized Arrowcycle or anything. The Flash and Supergirl don't need motor vehicles, and their support teams generally travel in vans, or these days by breach extrapolators on The Flash. So it'd be nice if somebody had a hero car. A Batmobile would be a logical choice. (Batwomanmobile? Batwomobile? Batwobile?)

I'm hoping for the flying Batmobile from Batman Beyond. Kevin Conroy is playing old man Bruce Wayne from said crossover, so, it is possible (but probably not probable). Maybe he can mentor Kate with a crash course on being Batwoman.

Honestly I think a stealth vtol batwing would make more sense for Batwoman than a car. Something like the one in Batman Beyond would be kinda perfect.

Is that Kevin Conroy picture official or just a really good photoshop?
