Spoilers Batwoman - Season 1

Is that Kevin Conroy picture official or just a really good photoshop?

It's fan art -- the artist's signature is in the top left corner. Behind-the-scenes photos suggest that Conroy will have a beard in the real thing.

I guess I spoke to soon the other day when I said a team-up with Wonder Woman was unlikely. ;)
Why? TWO berlanti series have name-dropped Batman and shown him in the periphery in flashbacks/dream sequences. But you know for 100% fact he'll NEVER make an upfront/current Arowverse appearance beyond what further cameos they give the character in the Arrowverse Crisis.

Like Batman, Wonder Woman is a big screen theatrical success; so no, you'll never see a full/current Arrowverse version of her showing up or fighting alongside anyone on the small screen.

You're making assumptions based on outdated thinking.

We've seen Superman on Supergirl, and Bruce Wayne on Titans, and we're getting a future Bruce Wayne in Crisis on Infinite Earths, so I think we can safely say that we can see movie characters on the shows. I still think they fact that Bruce/Batman are missing rather than dead means that they aren't completely, 100% ruling out him making a possible appearance somewhere along the line.
According to an interview showrunner Caroline Dries did with EW, we will not see Tommy Elliot as Hush, but he will be in Gotham because he wants to kill Batman/Bruce.

I could swear I saw some Robin related graffiti, specifically a circled "R" on a wall, at one point as Kate was riding by on her bike. The same wall had some Joker related graffiti as well, IIRC.

ETA: I found it. It's actually right at the beginning of the pilot, just as we are being introduced to Gotham City. At one point, we see a giant billboard that says "Welcome to Gotham City". Next to the billboard on the upper left is Robin's symbol, a circled "R" in red paint. Next to the billboard on the lower right is a graffiti drawing of the Joker.

They name dropped Robin as well which raises more questions. Where is he?
I guess it depends on which Robin.
1) If it's Dick Grayson then he's probably retired or in Blüdhaven Nightwinging up the joint.
2) If it's Jason Todd then he's probably dead and possibly at least partly the reason Bruce went MIA.
3) If it's Time Drake then he's probably off searching for Bruce and/or switched his identity to Red Robin.
I guess Damien is an outside possibility since Talia is around...but it seems a bit early in the timeline for that thread (though a distinct possibility for the "Arrow Beyond" plotline.)

I think both options 1 & 2 are fairly likely, with 3 being less so. Adding Drake into the mix too seems a bit much IMO.
Personally I have my fingers crossed that the show will eventually introduce Cass and/or Steph into the mix. The former being more of a rival to Kate (she's a bit of a zealot when it comes to honouring the symbol and "the mission" and in the comics doesn't have a high opinion of Kate), with Steph being a solid Robin candidate for Kate's Batwoman, even if they just keep her as Spoiler. Would be fun for Oracle to show up at some point too, especially since Overwatch is now off the board. I guess they could also give Huntress another shot...

By virtue of being there for Kate in her childhood and all this Bruce already seems slightly more well-adjusted human being than usual depictions in comics and other media in the past couple of decades have been which I kinda like, but could also mean that he didn't get as many kids into street-fighting as Batman normally would. ;)

I also think it would be nice if this Bruce didn't leave for some "mysterious reason," but just to be with Selina and raise Damien as a somewhat regular kid and not another Robin. Also maybe baby Helena. :D

Tonight!

Finally the costume is complete...

So this version of Hush will be one of Kate's ongoing problems, then. Okay. This should be fun.

After tonight's episode, watching "Eleseworlds" is going to play rather little differently because we've now seen exactly how and why Kate became Batwoman and we now know that she has at least one enemy - Tommy Elliot -'back in the wind' after the Arkham breakout orchestrated by Deegan.

Batwoman
Season 1 - Episode 3 - "Down, Down, Down"

Kane/BW: "I can't do this. I'm not you." is an honest look within, as her motives for putting on the suit are not rooted in a child witnessing the murder of his parents. There's a galaxy wide difference of motive and worldview conditioning between Bruce and Kate's childhood traumas.

"The Gotham you set out to protect is now less safe because of me..." Good--she realizes she's in over her head (at this point), so it will be interesting to see how she rises to the occasion. Regarding Batman's enemies coming out because of her, well...I'm sure there will be no Joker or Catwoman, but Elliot did say he paid someone to "Riddle me..." the info on Bruce. It could be an in-universe loose reference, or the Riddler was just teased.

I hope Kate realizes Alice saving her from Elliot is just pulling her strings, and not some act of a reformed woman.

Jacob Kane: Alright, he's pretty much acknowledging the Alice is Beth, but he's still unwilling to take what would be misplaced responsibility for failing to find her.

He has no idea that his wife constantly plays him.

Luke Fox:
Bruce creating s gun that could penetrate the Bat-suit (in case the suit fell into the wrong hands) makes the inarguable point that this Bruce can reach a point where he's willing to kill.

Tommy Elliot: He's supposed to be Bruce's childhood friend, but does not appear to be older, which makes one wonder how old Bruce is in this reality.

I thought his elevator trap/threat in order to draw Batman out (including wanting a rooftop meeting) was a bit too much like Luthor kidnapping Lois & luring Superman to the rooftop as seen in Dawn of Justice.

For a weak-necked rich boy, he can fight. Who knew?

Sophie Moore:
Having he take aggression out on her husband, only to kiss him as if she has doubts in exactly the predictable plotting that should not happen, as it justifies Kate's deliberate targeting of Sophie's marriage. Mary the ditzy stepsister--acting as the showrunner's mouthpiece--constantly calling out Sophie's past / commenting on her marriage ("I forget you two were married") was groan-inducing.

Alice: Assuming young Beth's dream is based on a real experience, the mask--or skinned face hints (possibly) at someone else behind her march toward insanity. Now, its clear she has a love-hate view of her farther; he wants to punish him, but there's still the memory of emotional bonds from the past at work...to a degree.

NOTES: I like seeing Luke and Kate (out of costume) working together; it adds more of the needed detective element to the series, and they play off of each other in an interesting way.

GRADE: B+.
