Joker Origin Story Announced

So, the first reactions when this movie was announced was that it would be a massive flop, then that it would never do Batman level numbers, and here we are - Batman level opening weekend.

Was it the subject matter or the kind of trolly marketing campaign?

I believe he didn't hurt her. He killed only people he believed had wronged him, and she, in their "real" encounters, had always been nice to him. Obviously, being crazy, he could be convinced she deserved it...

 

I really dislike the idea that the Joker was a washed out clown performer..

And it wouldn't be the first time, either. "The Killing Joke" also presented the Joker as a failed comedian.

 

The thing is too, if you don’t like this backstory, the next version of Mr J will have a different one. Nicholson’s psychotic gangster, Ledger with his differing explanations for how he got the scars etc. This (the current movie) is just one possible explanation for how he came to be.

 

I actually like the idea that nobody, not even the Joker himself, knows his true origin.

 

So far, it's done $93 million in the states and $140 million outside the states. That's a lot of incels.
