Joker Origin Story Announced

So, the first reactions when this movie was announced was that it would be a massive flop, then that it would never do Batman level numbers, and here we are - Batman level opening weekend.

Was it the subject matter or the kind of trolly marketing campaign?

A question about the movie.

What happened to Sophie after Joker entered her home ? Her fate is unknown after that

I wonder what those individuals who were trying to stack the deck--hoping this would fail--have to say now?

Everyone who likes the movie is a racist. That's how clickbait jounalism works. Keep stoking the fire to keep them reading. Jason

well...
I believe he didn't hurt her. He killed only people he believed had wronged him, and she, in their "real" encounters, had always been nice to him. Obviously, being crazy, he could be convinced she deserved it...

I really dislike the idea that the Joker was a washed out clown performer..

There was simply no clowning around for Warner Bros/Village Roadshow/Bron Studios’ Joker which has grossed a phenomenal $234M worldwide in its first weekend out. Of that, Todd Phillips’ origins story made $140.5M from 73 markets at the international box office. The figures set a new October record, topping last year’s Venom which previously held the month’s mantle for best domestic, overseas and global openings.

The thing is too, if you don’t like this backstory, the next version of Mr J will have a different one. Nicholson’s psychotic gangster, Ledger with his differing explanations for how he got the scars etc. This (the current movie) is just one possible explanation for how he came to be.

Other than the 1989 BATMAN movie and THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, has the Joker ever been killed off in a project?
(When TDKR first came out, I actually interpreted it as canon, and said to myself ''How did Miller get permission to waste the Joker? Not to mention poor Alfred.)
Probably do to the fact it took place in a different time frame.
