So far the characters are dressed in colors that match their color schemes from their previous series. Picard's in a red turtleneck. Seven is wearing a brown sweater. Dahj is dressed in dark gray.

If we go by Picard and Seven, I think the color scheme of what Dahj is wearing suggests she's Borg. At least on the inside.

That would be interesting in the sense that it would be like DS9: Trials and Tribble-Ations showing a different side of The Trouble With Tribbles or VOY: Flashback expanding on IV: The Undiscovered Country.

    I'd appreciate that!

PLOT TWIST: Picard's Irumodic Syndrome is far more advanced than anyone guessed, and all of The Next Generation were his delusions. He's been going between the vineyard and hospitals the entire time.

I think what we will see is how the Federation decided to liberate Borg drones instead of blow them to smithereens. Seven of Nine represents the greatest moral conundrum faced by Starfleet. Rescue, or be assimilated? Which one is easier to accomplish as drones are sweeping through the decks of one's ship, converting all they encounter? Seven is the poster child for restoration to humanity--indeed she is a new form of human.

That's an interesting idea, I could actually see that as a possibility for the show's Borg story.

My current theory is the humanitarian event Picard responded to is connected to the Borg, either the Borg invaded Romulan space, or a Romulan experiment on Borg tech got out of hand. Just something connected to the Borg.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the ‘Days since assimilation’ sign in the Borg cube is adds up to almost 14 years.

I've seen speculation that Dahj may be some new form of Human/Romulan/BORG as well.

We might see the inverse of Star Trek: First Contact, where Picard actively tries to preserve Borg life in the hopes of returning drones to their former lives. Having been a drone himself he's probably acutely aware of the potential for so much good to be salvaged, and is likely dedicated to eradicating the very process which generates the aggressive assimilation protocols. Before I saw Jeri Ryan in that full trailer I knew there had to be more to Picard than geriatric Jean-Luc slumming the galaxy and calling in favors. It just couldn't get more personal than making sure others never have to face Borg demons of their own. I suspect transhumanism will be a recurring theme for this show. If not the theme.

EDIT: I was thinking how awful it would be if the Rescue Fleet saved thousands of Romulans, but then the Borg descended to claim most of them. Also the inverse of First Contact.

    No.

It was being played out at a holodeck installed in the family vineyard.

You know who could show up? Tasha Yar. We never saw a body the second time around. She could have been a Romulan prisoner for a very long time.

    Also, Sela.

I think “the big events, the supernova, the retirement” is all one big event that happened in one year. We haven’t even gotten confirmation what year the series is set (2399? 2402?).

I thought it was set 20 years after Nemesis?

I hope we'll get pictures and more information about Dahj and the story with the romulans and the borg. Especially the mystery about Data I'm really curious about since I've first seen the trailer.

I'm honestly not really thinking Dahj is as big of a deal as the first trailer made her out to be. After all, Isa Briones just isn't a well-known actor (admittedly, few would be at a young age), Patrick Stewart is the lead, and there's really no evidence that she's a co-lead at all judging by how she's put on roughly the same level as the other "new cast" in the interviews. She's probably going to be introduced in the first episode (since Picard meets her first, and only assembles his "new crew" a bit later) but I wouldn't be surprised if she drops back to supporting character pretty quickly thereafter.

Seems to me that she might be the 'McGuffin' of the whole season.

And she needs help of a retired baldy? She's the Fifth Element, it all makes perfect sense now!

    A Rough Picard Timeline

    2378
: The events of STAR TREK: NEMESIS take place. William Riker and Deanna Troi marry. A copy of Data’s memory is copied into the recently discovered prototype android, B-4. Data sacrifices himself destroying the Reman Warbird Scimitar before a Thaleron radiation superweapon can be deployed against the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-E by the insane young clone of Captain Picard, Shinzon of Remus. William Riker is promoted to captain and leaves with Deanna Troi to take command of the USS Titan NCC-80102.

2381: Jean-Luc Picard is promoted to Admiral and leaves the USS Enterprise. He is put on a “special assignment” by Starfleet Command.

2384: Admiral Picard is part of the greatest rescue armada in known history, saving many Romulans from their doomed world*. An unspecified tragedy strikes the mission, leaving Picard grief-stricken.

2386: Picard retires to the family vineyard is La Barre, France.

2387: The future events of STAR TREK take place. The Hobus star in the beta quadrant goes supernova, threatening to destroy the galaxy. Ambassador Spock uses Red Matter to open a black hole, absorbing the exploding star, but not before the planets Romulus and Remus are destroyed. The Romulan mining ship Narada attacks Spock, and both ships vanish into the black hole.

    2399
: STAR TREK: PICARD begins with a mysterious young woman asking the retired Admiral Picard for help.

*speculation. But why else would the Romulans we see in the trailer worship him so?

Also much of the info is from placards in the Picard "First Duty" exhibit from SDCC. They were written by Trek novelist Dayton Ward, and he said over in the Trek lit forum they've been updated/modified for the exhibit's next appearance.

No way did they know about the supernova 3 years in advance.
Hobus/Rescue/Retirement most likely happened in rapid order within same year (2384 or 2387, take your pick)
