Yeah, likely this, but it's also entirely possible that he simply didn't want to forever be attached to the role. Even as good as the money could be, sometimes an actor knows when to say no.
I liked it.
It was a by the numbers MIB movie but the leads have chemistry and the story was okay, not great, but okay. MIB 2 was much worse.
Will Smith being in After Earth was very close to being a career killer. It has been documented that he had a hard time getting lead roles - that's why he took an ensemble role in Suicide Squad. He seems to have completed a comeback now, though he isn't even close to the top star he used to be.
I don't think themovie was THAT bad....but since he also produced it (I think), and didn't M. Night Shymalan direct?Was "After Earth" really that bad!
