Anyone who thinks Black Panther and Captain Marvel have no sense of humor either didn't watch their movies or doesn't know what a sense of humor is.
I am speaking of the main characters not the movies. The movies are good but the main heros are their to be the straight man to the funny people often low key. MCU is at it's best when it goes broad. I do like we got 4 that kind of go against that in the first two Captain America movies and Captain Marvel and Black Panther but you don't want to do that to much IMO. Maybe the best sense of humor for the MCU in general. Being silly and over the top is maybe it's biggest draw. So much that even DC is following their lead. I can only imagine a future Avengers movie with Captain Marvel and Black Panther as the leads. What kind of banter would they have. I am hoping one of them lightens up like they slowly did with Rogers or really did with Thor. JasonSo am I. They both have a sense of humor. The fact that they're not wildly sarcastic like Tony or willfully silly like Quill doesn't change that.
they have called me racist and bigots, and they also have backed up their claims. So.. yeah hypocrisy runs wild here.. just because my opinion is not the most popular it's easy to put me down
I know their will be humor. What I am trying to say is what made Stark work is he is both star and comic relief. Captain America is star but also constant punchline with his old fashioned values. Put them together it is like the perfect odd couple. I can't think of anything fun in seeing Cap Marvel and Black Panther share scenes. Basically Stark and Rogers were Jordan and Pippen and I am not convinced Marvel and Panther are Kobe and Shaq. JasonThor himself, with his new attitude and outlook, could still be in the next theoretical Avengers movie. Ditto to Scott Lang. The possibility of characters like She-Hulk and Kamala Khan being included could bring some levity to the proceedings. I'm not worried about humor being a part of the mix.

This is possible. I could even see Hulk as the star which would be weird. Can't do a Hulk movie but maybe a Avengers movie where he is lead. Or use a Avengers movie to introduce the X-Men. Another idea is to make it centered around Thor,Hulk and Captain Marvel which would be handy if Waitti is director. I mean their all possibities but I still feel their is going to be some drop off until we know what is going to make the next phases as special instead of just riding off the coat tales of what has already been done. I think X-Men and Fantastic 4 are the true next big thing and until then the MCU is in rebuilding mode to see what they can use in the future. JasonEven if that were true - and I'm not convinced it is - all it would mean is that they spend most of their time interacting with other characters. Carol and Quill would be an obviously hilarious pair. Her with the Guardians in general, really. T'Challa and Strange (or Wasp) could have a great dynamic as the 'adults' trying to wrangle people like Scott and Thor. He and Valkyrie could have a great relationship as one warrior to another. And so on and so forth.
Wanda wasn’t old enough to have a teenage kid in the comics either. So is Wiccan, a gay white boy, Wanda's kid, going to be in WandaVision?
Olsen is hardly old enough to have a teenage kid.
Considering her other child is a Speedster with white hair, you have to ask if Wanda slept with her brother, and Vision is as Gullible was Finn Hudson from Glee?

I’m no expert in genetics but I think Wanda might be able to contribute the silver hair gene all by herself
why is it difficult to read what I've written. I don't look for diversity in films.. i look for immersion, and verisimilitude in films.. if diversity is a natural part of that.. that is great. Like having a black Trek captain, and they only mention in two episodes that he is black. But it seems the need to put diverse cast in films seems higher than the need for us to car about the films themselves I'm fin with a female character.. but if you remind us throughout the script hat she is "fiercely independant" and she is actually a mary sue, the verisimilitude is broken, the immersion is broken. So sure bring all those various races and diversity types into the stories, but by putting that first, by reminding us how many checkboxes you've checked off, it no longer feels immersiveI'm going to try to explain this. I am going to believe that you don't believe that your attitudes or the arguments you express have racist elements. So, I am going to ask you to take time to reflect on this seriously.
The attitudes that you are expressing, diversity is fine as long as it doesn't interfere with the story, is one that suggests that the color of our skin and our cultural heritage does not have influence over who we are.
Saying things like race/ethnicity should not be an agenda point is like saying politics has no place in entertainment. Singers should sing, or Spicer can go on Dancing With the Stars and think it is not a political act.
These are only things that white people in the Western world can say. Others do not have that privilege. Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, Native Americans, Women and LGBTQ2 people have traditionally only been accepted on screen if they are white American enough--otherwise they are seen playing stereotypes often as comedy relief. Fully realized roles have traditionally been almost non-existent unless the story and plot require someone from that ethnicity/orientation.
The only way to counter this traditional portrayal is for the active intent to bring greater diversity into productions--both on screen and behind the screen.
The flaw in your thinking is that this will somehow overshadow the stories we see. It will not. It will change and alter the dynamics of characters we see on screen as non-white characters will no longer be simply window dressing to round out a cast or people to be saved by the white lead, but will be characters with as much depth as their white counterparts. We will still have great movies and engaging stories.
As for us white guys, in my opinion, the best thing we can do is continue to learn--keep our minds open to increased diversity--and recognize/reflect on/change our attitudes when it is called for.
I apologize if anyone is offended by what I have said, or if I have misinterpreted something--but I have tried my best.
Surely you can understand that your argument can only be made by white folks?
now that the main characters are out.. watch it crumble.. the entire MCU like a slow moving train wreck
The problem is, a person's race, sex, or sexual orientation is such a big part of a who they are that you can't just ignore it without it feeling unrealistic. A black person, a woman, or a gay person is not going to react to a situation in the same way as a straight white guy, so it's ridiculous to expect them to.why is it difficult to read what I've written. No the problem is that we live in an outrage culture and people just want to jump on what I Say.
