Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

All these people singing ‘Sweet Caroline’ at Fenway Park...how many of them know that the Caroline in question (Kennedy) was like 9 years old when he wrote it? :wtf:

That is entirely incorrect, and just an urban legend. The truth, as always, is a far more common and reasonable cause.
As found on CNN:
It was a great story.
For years the lore has been that Neil Diamond's 1969 song "Sweet Caroline" was an ode to the then young daughter of late president John F. Kennedy and his wife, Jacqueline.
On Monday, the singer revealed the truth behind the hit.
"I was writing a song in Memphis, Tennessee, for a session. I needed a three-syllable name," Diamond said during an appearance on "Today." "The song was about my wife at the time — her name was Marsha — and I couldn't get a 'Marsha' rhyme."
"Sweet Caroline" has since become a staple track, and in 2013 Diamond announced that he would donate the royalties to One Fund Boston to help those affected by the Boston Marathon bombing.
The song has been played at every Boston Red Sox home game for more than a decade, and there was a spike in downloads after the April 2013 tragedy.

Yesterday I wrote down a few notes by hand on a piece of paper, but I am so unused to do that that I find my notes to be unreadable.:D

It's hilarious when you're watching a show with the subtitles on, and somebody runs into the scene breathing heavily, and the subtitles say "PANTS."

It rained rather heavily for about the first half of my daily run (buckets) and then the sun started shining again. By the time I got back, my clothes were completely dry and I was starting to sweat! Incredible!

Tardigrades might be living on the moon. They were traveling on an Israeli spacecraft that crash-landed on the moon last April. So, tonight you can look up at the moon and wave to the little tardigrades, who probably won't be waving back unless they manage to find water to reanimate them. But...doesn't it seem like the plot of a sf/horror movie? "Attack of the Water Bears from the Moon!"

I like how the subtitles identified the EMH as "Dr. Zimmerman" in certain scenes where he was speaking

It probably confused some deaf kids who watched it at a very young age, as well as certain English Language Learners who use subtitles to help them learn English

The Swarm, in the third season

I'm sure there are subtitles designating the EMH as Dr. Zimmerman in some pre-The Swarm episodes...

It's hard to find treklit or media featuring Odo. He is the most singularly fascinating and odd character in the entire trekiverse.
