And repeal the Second Amendment.
Fun fact: The only reason the 2nd was ever created ia because, at the time, we had no standing army. So all adult gun owners were meant to BE that army. And so, now that we have a strong military, the amendment is useless and can be done away with.

It seems that there will be pigs in orbit before that happens... according to everything I am told about it that is.
I have no problem with people buying handguns and hunting rifles, given a proper background check, gun safety class, and no violent crime convictions. Just need to perhaps clarify the second amendment is not a blank check for anyone in the country to have implements of mass murder.
Except that the NRA is so powerful and intransigent that they won't allow the smallest alteration of that amendment, except maybe to make it, even more, gun-friendly (although I don't think that's possible).
The amendment itself says “Well regulated militia”. It’s just not specific whether “Keep and bear arms” means all arms or not. And rulings that challenged it said it was right to keep and bear arms for “Traditionally lawful purposes”.

I would argue though the amendment wasn’t just about having an army, it was about the individual right to defend one’s self. Both against domestic criminals and against a tyrannical government.

I remember seeing some footage with a weird-looking guy with a gun conspicuously jutting out of his belt in the middle of a stadium full of people. Only in America!!!
He looked like the kind of guy who would shoot his own balls while trying to draw his gun!
That’s what the police are for.
Which doesn’t work either. If our government turned against us, we really wouldn’t stand a chance. Good luck shooting down that drone with an AR-15!
I'm pondering the usefulness of having bear arms in a fight. I guess they'd be strong, and the claws could do some serious damage. But where to keep them?!

Everybody being armed could be also the reason why often the Police shoot first and ask questions later.
I trust the police. I do NOT trust some random nutbar with a gun.
Face it, the more people on the street who are armed, the more likely it is that somebody could get shot for trivial reasons. You wanna take a bullet just because the person next to you doesn’t like your face? Because that’s what you’ll get when everybody’s packin’ heat.
And before anybody brings up what happened in places like El Paso, arming more people isn’t going to help that either. It’ll just make sure more innocent bystanders go down.

There was a situation a few days ago in Time Square, where a motorcycle backfired or something, and it caused a short panic because people thought it was a gunshot. I'm not sure what it says about me that I had to read this three times before realizing you meant something you'd put in your hair and not the Great White, Twisted Sister, Quiet Riot types.
I am guessing that those were bands from the movie "Hair".
