-Jack Crusher's poorly-photoshopped picture with his CO has a full commander's pips, though the caption next to it has him at a Lt. Commander's rank.

- There's a picture of kid-aged Robert and JL at the family vineyard. Little do we realize it was taken just after Robert stole his brother's Art Asylum model of the NX-01 and is smiling just as the younger Picard is starting to cry. Jean-Luc had a mean upbringing.

Both those photos are originally from David Goodman's Autobiography of Jean-Luc Picard. In the book, the caption for the Jack Crusher photo says it's from right after he was promoted to First Officer.

Oho! Were the other "young Picard" pics also from the book - or any of the other artifacts for that matter?

I don't think so, at least, I don't see any others in the TrekMovie article. The other photos in the book are a graduation photo of Ensign Picard at Starfleet Academy in a collarless TWOK uniform with no rank pin and the flap open, a top-down view of the Stargazer with speed lines coming off it as it zooms through space, a photoshopped picture of the TNG cast posing after a poker game, a photo of Picard and Mark Twain, a flyer for a talk and flute performance Captain Picard gave in Ten Forward about what happened in "The Inner Light," a schematic of Locutus's first faceplate mounted to Picard's head, a grainy intercepted transmission of Cardassians discussing his interrogation during "Chain of Command," a wedding invitation for Picard and Crusher from 2383, and a picture of Picard around the time he "wrote" the book, posing next to a portrait of himself from the Enterprise-D days in his family archive.

With the latest casting revelations, its got me thinking about the Federation ships we'll be seeing in the show again. There were none in the trailer, but what with Picard leading a ragtag gang to parts mostly unknown and apparently on a prison raid, seeing SOME form of Starfleet ship represented is almost conclusive.

With Riker and Troi guesting in later (?) episodes (going purely by Sir Patrick's hints on them continuing to shoot into the fall), what circumstance would have them showing up after Picard begins whatever dangerous quest he's on? Assuming they're still in Starfleet, would it be reasonable to think they're still aboard the USS Titan? As awesome as it'd be to see that ship in Trek proper, I do wonder about the legalities of importing a design made for the novels to guest on a mainline show.

It's just as likely IMO to have the characters still in Starfleet but moved to another posting. I mean, it's 20 years after Nemesis. Would those two have it in them to pull a Stargazer's worth of service on the same ship?

Still, we do have a large investment in new Starfleet uniforms and props. They'll certainly be used beyond the SF Command scenes we've seen so far. A Federation starship is certainly not going to be the focus here, any more than the Xavier mansion was used as a base of operations in "Logan".

It would be seriously cool to see an equivalent era runabout or smaller starship, though. Something similar in size to the show's principal vessel, which is analogous to the many small freighters and transports we've seen through the TNG era. I would love to see a larger ship, or something form the TNG-era suitably upgraded after all this time, but somehow I think for these first episodes it won't be so grand.

And picking apart that ship: its interior seems to be one large room with the command area combined with the main cargo space, transporter pad and engine core at the back. There are doors on this level leading off laterally - maybe the crew bunks? We don't know what's in the open "pit" in the middle of the compartment, perhaps the exit to the exterior when landed?

Riker didn't get the Kirk memo that Picard did, so once he was free of his hang up about leaving the Enterprise, he was free to return to his rank climbing.
I imagine Picard only got his promotion to Admiral on retirement.

I'm also hoping to see flashbacks to his time on the Stargazer, although if it's not relevant to the story it probably won't happen. I would also like to see the Enterprise-F, but not that stupid thing from STO.

I'm hoping that by this point, Riker is captain of the Enterprise-F. I never liked the Titan design, but if it was just shown as a desktop model in Riker's ready room, per se, I probably would be ok with that.

- We're led to believe that quite a bit of Data has survived the destruction of the Scimitar, despite him being literally at the center of the explosion. But if so much of him survived, why wouldn't all the Fleet's horses and men try Humpty-Dumpty-ing him back together again? Otherwise, maybe that's B-4 or even Lore in the drawers?

Or a dream sequence. Or, more probably, a holodeck sequence. Is there a taboo about reincarnating dead friends or family members?

- We're assuming Picard is wearing the last combadge he was ever issued, so it's commensurate with the end of the TNG era as we saw it and before whatever uniforms and badges they're wearing these days. Thing is, it IS a Starfleet-issue piece of equipment, and more than once, someone has resigned their commission by removing the badge (symbolically or not). Is this a keepsake? A fake?

Or the badge of somebody else? (Data's spare one?)

- Romulans are prison guards of a facility that was a Borg Cube?! Now THERE's a bunch of words I'd never expected to string together. And was there seriously a danger of people being assimilated if they weren't practicing proper workplace safety?!

Having this writing presented to a bunch of people held at gunpoint doesn't inspire confidence in me that said people have any choice in... Well, anything much, but "workplace safety" is probably off their hands, too.

- 5843 days is a little over 16 years, which means that a significant Borg event likely took place after Picard left Starfleet. For shame, Borg! Doing something when your biggest fan wasn't around to stop you! Guess Janeway would have to step in.

Or then this Cube was captured by the Star Empire right around TNG S1 "The Neutral Zone", and there have been ca. 47 assimilation incidents there in the decades since, the last one 16 years ago.

- Finally, transporter booths that people simply walk through! Been wondering why this hasn't been more prevalent yet.

I wonder if we'll learn whether this is new tech, or merely something that has been off screen (but mentioned in dialogue, after a fashion) for centuries.

- The "Data" in the sting scene is wearing what looks to be a First Contact uniform, or close to it. It's not whatever anyone else is wearing though.I'm calling it: holo Data from before he died, playing Picard at cards as the latter reminisces over a lost friend.

The bland background might go better with a dream sequence, though. Picard and empty white spaces have history... Those might not be his first choice for a holosimulation.

There were reproductions given out as souviners at Comic-con where you could see they had "Visitor" written on them, so I guess they're temporary commbadges (or maybe just badges and trackers to control access to sensitive areas) for people dropping into Starfleet facilities.

Since some guy asked for his name at HQ in a preview clip, I guess he can only get into the building as a visitor. No one recognizes him. Then he sneaks away during a tour and ends up in the Admiral's office, and she finally knows who he is. Could be a pretty funny scene, actually XD

Well, I watched an interview with Sir Patrick and the crew, and one of his top things for the new series was, He did NOT want to be in a uniform, at all.. though apparently, they filmed a "Flashback" where he was in one, but in general, not. And aperently Riker and Troi are also not in Starfleet anymore, atleast thats the latest rumour abounding..
So, we may get to see some fleet ships in orbit, or maybe chasing down Picard, it won't be set on a fleet ship. and it seems Picard won't be setting foot on one.. For example, he gets in trouble, he re activates his commission, and is on a fleet ship.. nope..
Hoping the flashback is on the Enterprise E Bridge.. might have to cgi it if they don't want to build it..
As for Tech, only things that might have is
1. Transwarp beaming.. though I doubt it, that was just a Kelvin Mcguffin .. and a bad one at thatl.
2. All the Voyager Tech, Quantum Slipstream, Ablative armour, new torpedo's, etc.
Its only been 20 years, except for voyagers Tech, not much should change..

I really have no interest in seeing the Enterprise-E again. I'm hoping Picard commanded another ship for the rescue.
