It would have been. foreign warships don't just enter Australian territorial waters unannounced and it would have taken them several days sailing down the coast to reach Sydney. Should be obvious to anyone with at least half a brain but as recent events have shown many Australians don't seem to meet that criteria.
Let's put it this way... the Govt certainly didn't post any bulletins, "BTW, Chinese warships visiting in a few days!" as they do with the US fleet. No, we had to wait until they were here and frightening the horses.
Australia made headlines in the NY Times for all the wrong reasons https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/05/world/australia/journalist-raids.html
Gotta find those whistle blowers. Can't have them embarrassing the government. And we certainly wouldn't want to waste our time investigating the things the whistle blower brings to light.
Like the Afghan story which might involve certain medal winning soldiers. Oopsie the rumours were in the press late last year.
How can you plead not guilty when you are caught so red handed? I love how the law allows a guilty person to do that.
Yeah I was a bit curious about that. There's not been a lot of information about it so far. I wonder if he's really trying to claim he didn't do it or if he's looking to cop some sort of "diminished responsibility" plea.
Of course he will. Diminished responsibility due to mental impairment or something like that. I can see it now.
I agree with @teacake, it'll give him a chance to spout his poison. If the media have ANY sense, they'll paraphrase his words and, in effect, silence him.
Cori Bernardi has deregistered his party. Who thinks he'll try to return to the Liberals now that Turnbull has gone?
