Maybe Keira Knightly is open to take over the role of Jane Foster/female Thor?

I don't think you need to gender or race swap X-Men characters to make the more interesting, just substitute them for female and/or non-white characters that already exist instead of constantly trying to revert to the same handful of characters over and over again.

For example, instead of Logan, use Laura. Instead of Scott, use Jubilee, or Kitty, or Dazzler, or hell, let Jean be the leader for a change. Maybe this time instead of going for Dark Phoenix 3.0, introduce Rachel Summers as The Phoenix into the MCU *before* the X-Men even show up.

Can Becky Lynch act? I think she would have the charisma for a film if they wanted to do the wrestler angle. She certainly has become the female face of the WWE.

The Man? I'm not sure, but with that Irish accent she'd probably make a decent Siryn.

If they were going to do a female Thor, I don't know if that would be the best direction to go, casting wise. I mean for one thing, the hammer doesn't change a person's physique...
Indeed, Thor stays fat even after he does the lightning suit up thing.
...it just gives a person the *power* of Thor, (including command of the hammer) and sometimes (according to dramatic requirements) a new outfit.

So I think rather than have some amazon of a female wrestler pick up the hammer, it'd be more interesting to have an otherwise physically unremarkable woman (or girl) pick it up and gain the powers of Thor. That should help avoid the She-Ra cliche of the female version being almost a carbon copy of the male, but with boobs.

I didn't read the comics but all the images I've seen online shows a muscular valkyrie type woman as Thor.

I've been far behind on a lot of comic book shows and movies. I'm catching up and I have 3 things to say.

I'm really digging Legion. I've watched the first 2 seasons and I'm pumped for season 3 later this summer.

I just started season 1 of The Gifted and I’m really digging this show. I know this show goes down hill in season 2 and is now cancelled but this is some really good X-Men material. Long shot is that Disney+ picks this show up.

Last thing. Is Disney’s alleged “commitment” for a theatrical release of the New Mutants movie a thing?

They've given it a release date and all the most recent buzz has sounded positive. I think it was thought that perhaps Disney/Marvel would just dump this but it sounds like they get it and are giving it some care.

She's drawn with somewhat muscular arms, but it's really mainly the armor that makes her look that big. A massively muscled amazon would be overkill.

Looking at pictures of Lynch online, though, I wouldn't really describe her as an amazon, anyway. Visually, she's about right for Jane Foster's Thor. But she's also close enough to a normal physique that you could probably get any actress there with the right diet and training regime, so better to just cast for acting ability, imo.

I like Becky but I was really thinking of Charlotte Flair on the wrestling side who I thinks looks a lot like the pictures I've seen from the comics. She's got a solid muscular frame but not ridiculously so IMO and has a nice 5'10 stature to boot. I don't disagree about an actress maybe having more acting ability but visually I think she's right on.

Gwendoline Christie (Brienne from Game of Thrones) would make a good female Thor. Maybe needs a bit more visible muscle, but her height and looks definitely fit a female valkyrie type.

Also, this thread sort of substituted for an anticipation thread for the movie, unless one was started that I didn't notice, but with release date approaching and spoilers on the net, perhaps a movie discussion thread is in order? I'm stuck on my phone at the moment, and I don't like starting threads, especially ones with polls, on my phone. Otherwise I'd do it myself.

None of us even thinking to create an anticipation thread until three days before release is Dark Phoenix's lack of buzz and excitement in a nutshell. And we're hardcore geeks on the Science Fiction & Fantasy subforum of a Star Trek forum legendary for its awesome access to beloved tie-in writers! Even if it turns out to be a surprising return to form, this movie is so screwed at the box office.

Genuinely excited for New Mutants, though.

Me too, much to my own surprise. And I actually did start an anticipation thread for that movie waaaaay back when it was first announced, but when the release date got pushed back (the first time), that thread just sort of disappeared and this one swallowed up the discussion.

In the comics the hammer can transform people. Thor at one time was the handicapped Don Blake and Jane Foster in her human form was suffering from cancer.

The MCU hammer has healing and transformative powers as well. The Hammer brough Thor back from near-death in both Thor and Infinity War. It seems to create Asgardian garb for him out of thin air.

In Endgame, the hammer even braided his beard. At first, it was also going to make fat Thor buff again, but Hemsworth fought against it.
