Except having Goyer's name so close to a finished version is certainly cause for concern.

Arriving naked means that human Time travelers from the Terminator Universe can't bring back irradiated cash with them with nonsensical atemporal serial numbers, but Terminators can, even if they don't need money, they really, really don't need money.
Seriously? Has the US government not noticed Skynet sending back maybe thousands of teams into the past to perform odd covert and overt missions since before cowboy times?

True, but apparently (while he's shit at screenwriting) he's good at breaking stories. There's a reason the Brothers Nolan kept bringing him back to do the same thing for The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, with the Nolans then rewriting the screenplay.
For the record, I've always held the belief that the Nolans did an uncredited rewrite on Goyer's Batman Begins screenplay as well, but I've haven't seen anything to confirm my belief. Well, besides the rest of Goyer's filmography.
I wouldn't jump to conclusions. I don't believe anyone's ever done a cavity search on a time traveller immediately after they arrived in the past.
Given the choice of hiding a thousand dollars cash, or a thermite grenade upside-in your hershy's highway, most soldiers would chose the grenade, barbecue paper cuts are the worst.

He’d be attached even if his script wasn’t actually used, the writer’s guide has rules about this. If he wrote an earlier draft, his name would be in the credits.
It should also be known that the script is just the skeleton of a film, a talented director can make it work. Even Goyer’s scripts have gone on to be good movies in the hands of a good director.
Well there's a scene we all need to see in the next movie.
There are plenty of instances where that is not true, but credit wasn't my point. I mean that having him write the second-to-last script is a good enough reason to worry. A little hyperbole in the name of mocking his track record. When he writes the script, you just never know if the movie will be good or not.
To be fair, though when Goyer's stuff is punched up by a much stronger writer (James Robinson & Geoff Johns on JSA or Christopher & Jonathan Nolan on The Dark Knight Trilogy) good things happen.
He's like George Lucas: a great story guy, but a weak ass writer. His best work was rewritten too. THX 1138 by Walter Murch. American Graffiti, Star Wars and Temple of Doom by Willard Huyck & Gloria Katz. The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Return of the Jedi by Lawrence Kasdan. The Last Crusade by Jeffrey Boam and Tom Stoppard.
What I'm saying is, Billy fucking Ray. I mean, come on. Stupid ass, contextless mid-air airplane crash aside, I have no reservations yet about this one. Granted, maybe the entire movie is as dumb as that mid-air crash sequence. Or the mid-air crash sequence is like the old dude in Batman Begins that reminds the audience like six different times that "If the train reaches the tower, the whole thing will go!!!" One extremely fucking stupid blemish on an otherwise terrific movie. We'll know soon enough. I'm betting on Ray, though.
I agree but on rewatching it not too long ago it kind of hit me that first he was convinced he had to be the leader of this future resistance and then was told at the end of T2, "nope, it's ok now" but then suddenly living 10 years off the grid and directionless he suddenly finds out it's not ok but not like he was told, either. The certainly could have written him less whiny but it's understandable he's confused. It could have been years of convincing himself that it didn't happen for his own sanity and then forced to accept is is real. But it could have been a better movie.
I'm telling you, steam powered terminators in 1860 is where they need to go, and Abraham Lincoln can chop ones head off with his big ax!
I just recently watched the 3rd, 4th, and 5th movies recently and while they don't exactly seem to make "one whole story" they don't seem like they are that bad if you take each one as it's own thing. For example, the guy replacing Behin in Genysys was a huge step down and then John Connor, this legendary figure, is reduced to being "borged" into a terminator, I can see how that would put a lot of terminator fans right off, but putting that aside, (if you can) the movie wasn't too bad.
One thing I see is alive and well is the trailer screwing with the reveal about who is who regarding sides. I hate that.
If you can put everything out of your mind about what you "heard" about the movie and just watch the first two, you really aren't sure who is the good guy and who is the assassin, especially T2. Everywhere was saying "Arnie is back but he's the good guy in T2" before I even saw any previews but if you watch the movie only, you really can tell until the first big fight in the Mall if it's just two terminators hunting John. I thought that was a really good point of tension that's totally ruined ahead of time and I see they did it again with that new terminator that says she's a human but apparently she's not just a person.
Also, if Arnold is that old, how does his skin stay alive, do terminators eat to sustain their flesh? In the first movie it seemed like a temporary thing, like a meat suit disguise, and T2 it didn't seem to be long term either with them cutting chunks off and him not seeming to care, but then Genysys and this one seems to have them really old, long term, how does this "living tissue" not die and rot?
I have a new theory. Actually a few. Arnold IS John Connor. Either old Connor has traveled back in time or Connor was able to download some of his memories in a T-800. Since we already have one hybrid this would at least connect to that idea.
The other idea is Arnold is the guy who invented Time Travel. Maybe the key to stopping judgment day is not John Connor but actually stopping time travel. Without time travel then John Connor isn't born and thus Skynet doesn't send anyone back, creating it's own existence. Maybe he knows how to alter the past without dealing with the paradox since he is a time travel expert or something. The younger lady in the movie is Arnold's mom.

Well, I have to say that the new spoiler leaks don't inspire me with much confidence. I'm not opposed to the ideas they're going with in general, but I'd be lying if this wasn't just one more thing to be disappointed by. I highly doubt this will be the Terminator film that turns the franchise around.
They actually address this in T2 when removing the slugs from the T-800's back:
Sarah: Will these heal?
T-800: Yes.
Sarah: Good. If you can't pass for human, you're not much good to us.
I'm assuming that while the T-800 has a power cell that lasts for 120 years, it also has a separate cell that keeps the flesh fed and maintained. Or, the T-800 hits up Jack in the Box during slow parts of its mission.
We saw them make skin in the Sarah Connor Chronicles. It's chemicals in a vat brewing. It's possible the skin is autonomous and the terminators are not any kind of supplimental life support mrchanism.
That's what I've always thought as well.
Side note: Regarding the human model for the T-800, does anyone know why they did that stupid (and, thankfully, deleted) Sergeant Candy scene from T2? Not only did they inexplicably give Candy a Southern accent, they had somebody ELSE in the room speak with Arnold's real voice ("We can fix it"). If the makers of T2 bothered to do any scene like this, couldn't they just have had Arnold do his own voice?

You know if they actually did erase time travel that would make for a interesting way to end the franchise. Cut back to 1982 or whenever the first movie was made. Using Digital effects show 80's Sarah Connor going on that date she was suppose to go on and then flip forward and see her today all happy and married to the guy with children of their own having lived a whole different life knowing nothing about Terminators and Judgment Day. Maybe Arnold/Connor is there as a remmant from the old timeline and interacts with her but he clearly knows about what use to be while she knows nothing about it anymore. He goes kills himself alone to make sure nobody gets hold of his tech kind of like at the end of T2.

That seemed like more of an ad-hoc approach and IIRC the results were a little crude.
Clearly the exoskeleton must be fitted with some kind of interface to receive nerve "pain data" and dispense nutrients, oxygen and fluids. While it certainly wouldn't need as much as a human body, it would still need some (even if they gene spliced in an ability to photosynthesise.)
Indeed, the Terminators are specifically referred to as "cybernetic organisms" on several occasions. By definition that means there must be a systemic interface between the biological and non-biological.
That said when you look at the intended function of the Terminators, I doubt the living tissue was ever really designed to last indefinitely. I mean how long would the average infiltration mission last? A week? A month? A year? Old Arnie just proves that Skynet probably over designed these things for it to have lasted so long, or was very pessimistic about it's chances of wiping out the last humans inside of a few decades.
