Star Trek: Picard teaser trailer

Cut dialogue that immediately followed the trailer ;) :

Picard: We've made too many compromises already. Too many retreats. They invade space and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds, and we fall back. Not again! The line must be drawn here, this far, no farther! And I... will make them pay for what they've done!

Questioner: And you're talking about...?

Picard: The Federation. :(

There are many kinds of faith. The show is definitely not talking about that kind of faith.

:) Very true. I just found it weird that they would use "faith" as a catch-all when the two definitions that followed it didn't need the catch-all preceding them. So, naturally, one of my weird posts is the result. :D

Thought it was the flute that Picard got in The Inner Light episode that was playing. Slashfilm.com had the trailer along with a TNG clip of older brother well-intentionally baiting Picard into a fight to draw out his PTSD... I really, really like Discovery, but this might make me actually fall in love with Trek all over again...
That was already pulling at me, but it was the "okay, guys, bring the hammer down" TNG motif at the end that just shattered the doors into dust. I am looking forward to this series.

Pumped! Nice to have a TNG character back in Trek again, and Patrick would not have signed on to this unless the story and acting is compelling. He has background in theater acting afterall.

I like to see some stories about the rest of the crew too, but they don't have to show up per se. Is Data still functioning in that time? Love to see Spiner back, although a lot of make up job needed to de-age him.

The universe then is still familiar, unlike where Disc is going in Season 3. They should have lot of canvas to work with. However, since he is no longer in a starship, i wonder how they can keep it still like star trek without the "trek" part so to speak.

I find it really hard to get excited for anything to do with Trek these days, nothing I see about it moves me the way Trek does. I can watch almost any episode of TNG right now and love every moment of it and know why I love the franchise so much.

But everything Trek has done for the last, I'm going with, 10 years is just... Disappointing and for me misguided. Discovery (from what I've seen/heard of it) is right along this track.

There's elements of this trailer I liked, visuals, the music and such but I can't help but feel that the stuff the show is going to reveal, do and show is just going to disappoint me and take away more of the idealistic/hopeful and inspiring future handed out by Trek. Introduce things from ST09, STO, Discovery, etc. It's just...

It's hard for me to look forward to this.

Deanna was dead in the future of AGT. We never found out how she died. Perhaps aboard the Enterprise or the Titan during Hobus. I wouldn't be surprised if all the TNG characters are dead. Data is confirmed dead since Nemesis either way. Picard possibly lost everyone he cares about.

Scriptwriter: Hey Jonathan, here's the latest episode screenplay for you to direct.

Jonathan Frakes: All right! Hmm... the episode is titled 'Mourning Riker'... Picard says, "Life just isn't the same after Will Riker died, I don't know how to go on."

Scriptwriter: Yeah, it's going to be a great episode, and I know you'll do a fantastic job as usual at directing it!

Jonathan Frakes: ... :weep:

Great teaser trailer.

Picard left starfleet because the new Federation president wants to kick out Romulan refugees and build a wall around Federation.

Picard possibly lost everyone he cares about.

That reminds me of....
Fat Thor! Except instead of Fortnight and beer, Picard grows grapes and makes wine.

Definitely a redemption arc setup.

A better question is if Data is still dead at this time, depending on if they want to canonize his resurrection in Countdown and Star Trek Online.
Even if it is canonized, it doesn't have to be Brent Spiner - maybe the Daystrom Institute built him a new body. It would probably need to look enough like Spiner to justify his appearance in Countdown, though, if they're following that. Jim Parsons just had a series end...

I'd really rather that we get an appearance from Lal, though - maybe SHE is the one they were able to recover from the information that was transferred to B4. Data probably would have prioritized what he copied from her over his own information. Or at least, it would be a viable excuse to use Hailey Todd instead of Spiner if needed. ;)

That....could.....work!
And hey it all in the one big happy CBS family as well
