Does this count as MCU now, Disney announced a date for New Mutants so I'm glad that it will get released someday.

 

By the way, regarding the future of Marvel Studios projects and their "main" version of the MCU, we just got the new trailer for Far From Home today, and the movie is coming out in a few months, but after that, nothing is even being filmed yet, right?

On the movie front, Black Widow, Eternals, and Shang-Chi all have yet to start filming, and on the Disney+ front, none of Falcon & Winter Soldier, Loki, WandaVision, Hawkeye, whatever else have even started filming yet either, right? Obviously the Marvel tv side is still going strong, with all sorts of new stuff coming up. But the specific Marvel Studios stuff has taken a major break in production after Endgame and Captain Marvel and Far From Home (Sony, I know, but still movie MCU) wrapped.

Heck, I was just reading about when production could start on a second season of The Mandalorian for Disney+. Actually, that's probably why I made this post. It really drove home the point that the full continuity stuff from Marvel Studios has taken a significant break.

Looking forward to some next door neighbor sneaking a set photo of actors on a street or ScarJo sharing a behind the scenes image when Black Widow hopefully begins filming next month. And hoping we hear something relatively soon about when Falcon & Winter Soldier might start up (assuming that'll be the first Marvel show on Disney+).

 

Do the now cancelled Marvel Netflix series continuity have any sort of future in Marvel Studios' plans or is it being written off as a failure?

 

Honestly, I think a short break from the MCU is a wise decision. Not just because we just had this mega-event in the form of Endgame, which acts like a closing chapter (of the so-called "Infinity Saga"), but also because also gives viewers some breathing space from the onslaught of MCU films. While I don't think there's any real fatigue or an imminent bubble break as predicted by people such as Spielberg, I think it's good to have a brief rest.

And it's not like we're left in the lurch wondering if anything is coming. It'll just take a little while longer.

There are some of us who are hoping one or two of the shows will get a new life, if as a new show like Daughters of the Dragon, but it'll have to after three years (I think that's how long) after the contract with Netflix expires.

That strikes me as a false dichotomy. Even if they don't continue the shows in a new form, they've collectively produced 13 seasons of television, most of them critically acclaimed. There is no sense in which that is a failure.

They weren't a failure. I don't know if it's been said officially, but the general assumption is that they were cancelled because Disney didn't want original series on a streaming service they didn't own, not because of a lack of audience.

 

Actually, Netflix canceled the Netflix series, not Disney. Netflix canceled the shows because they had to pay Marvel a licensing fee and the shows weren't bringing in enough new subscribers to justify continuing production. The shows were very popular with the subscribers they had, but they weren't bringing enough new business in.

 

Ah, my mistake.
I doubt any of these specific universes will come into the play in the MCU... er MCM...., but just in case, Marvel has posted a guide to the most significant universes in the comics's multiverse.

I never read any of the comics with Sam as Captain America. What is his fighting style like? I saw some covers where he had no wings and just Captain America themed costume with shield.

I want to see shield used with his flying tho.

 

Except the shield would be very much not aerodynamic if he were holding it in front of him.

 

May Day Parker will always have a special place in my heart. I liked getting to see her again in the Spiderverse crossovers.

Steve is propelled forward with the shield face out in a few movies and somehow this heavy metal thing does not slow him down midair. Or act remotely how something made of several pounds of a super heavy element should when thrown, which would be to fall almost immediately. Or be too heavy to lift for anyone but Steve.

 

I picked up the first Spider-verse crossover for no other reason than I heard May-Day played a prominent role. I haven't heard that much about the spider verse sequel. Is MayDay equally as prominent, or is she just wallpaper (meaning a character that just shows up so they could say he or she was there)?
