Rotating sets have been around since the days of Fred Astaire as seen below, Note: this is 1951. I'm sure the concept has gotten a bit cheaper in the past 70 years. Hell, even Lionel Ritchie used the technigue back in the 80s.

Whoops. It seems I really have to start working on my reference pools.

....
All he saw was a disfigured version of himself in a chair, it could actually be faked especially as he saw a future version of himself that knew when that vision would occur, just saying.

That's funny because that reminds me of a fantastic story about a man who learned that his fate was to be completely ruined. So in order to cheat fate, he sold and cashed everything he had and hid it in a cave somewhere and lived as a vagrant for years until someday he thought he had passed the time when his ruin would occur so he went to get his money and discovered that it was gone. So all this time he thought he had pretended to be poor, he really was.

Interference from the torpedo maybe? But would you even be happy with an explanation?

Since the torpedo is a reference to STiD, remember that there, Scotty said the torpedoes and anything near them could have catastrophic interactions once armed.

Well that and Discovery is the only ship that has intraship beaming, which Lorca had installed and hasn't been used since he was killed.

It just seemed odd to not even try. What with all the time they wasted on other things, a scene with transporter operators trying to get a lock might have been welcomed.

Its been a running commentary all season that Pike has become an odd duck since being forced to sit out the war with Klingons.

Dang, now that's cool!

Maybe that's true, because she's won me over by now.

In truth, I can't help loving Michelle Yeoh. She's awesome in everything she does, and she does it with such gusto.

I do recommend you check out her early work in Hong Kong cinema if you haven't already. My introduction to her was Royal Warriors from 1986.

Could have sacrificed one of those repair robots but maybe they were only built for repairs, not pulling handles?

Or maybe pull the emergency handle on the other side of the door?

Doesn't matter. Pike admires an act of noble sacrifice. He's not going to stop someone if they are committed to it. He even tried to do it himself this season on several occasions.

I think they just needed a noble sacrifice to add some pathos to the scene and too much fuss about trying to find an alternate solution would have ruined that.
