She's credited as Yeoman in the end credits.

If you think that DS9 describes a dystopian future then you have no idea what dystopian means. What Sisko think of as an extreme measure "In The Pale Moonlight" doesn't even qualify as everyday fare for our politicians, even the most "honorable" ones and I don't think that we live in a dystopian present, far from it. "1984", THAT's dystopian!!!
Yes but, a lot of people at the time called DS9 Anti-Star Trek because of its dark tone.
 
This episode was phenomenal. I adored seeing the Enterprise and the D7s kicking ass on screen. I hope to god we see a Pike spinoff, especially given how the episode ended.

But Pike can't change his future now, where he's a disfigured invalid...
 
The planet in that episode wouldn't qualify for Federation membership, since they clearly have no one-world government.



Unless there's no hope of Discovery (or at least the crew) ever making it back to 2257, this question is still open.

What's the latest on that, BTW? Have the showrunners abandoned all hope of a return to the 23rd century? Will the 3rd season involve any attempts to do so?



Unless that Colt was an alien who just happened to have a name that (when translated into English) sounds like Colt. The real, human one could also be on the ship, elsewhere.

Rotating sets have been around since the days of Fred Astaire as seen below, Note: this is 1951. I'm sure the concept has gotten a bit cheaper in the past 70 years. Hell, even Lionel Ritchie used the technigue back in the 80s.

Yes, I definitely miss that. I appreciate more slowly paced combat with fewer players. One where you can actually follow the movement of the combatants, and where every shot and every hit are actually discernible and matter. Now it was a screen filled with tiny ships and constant ambient pew pew and explosions.

That wont happen for a while yet.

He cant change it but he can mitigate it and then toddle off to be with Vina with no harm to the timeline.

All he saw was a disfigured version of himself in a chair, it could actually be faked especially as he saw a future version of himself that knew when that vision would occur, just saying.

Eh...... I mean, there was lots of tiny ships, but I was impressed by how well I could follow the big ships' maneuvers this episode. Like, it was surprisingly easy to track the capital ships' movements through the drone swarms.
 
So the Paradise interview over at Trekcore has quite a bit of hedging about Nhan's fate. That makes me think that either the actor might not be returning or Control also put itself into her. Hm...it's a little odd how she goes down on screen in this episode, too.

I hope neither is true.
I havent seen the episode yet but if its true and Leland comes anywhere near any other character they could be infected and may not even know it.
 
Disappointed by the stupid ending of those left in the 23rd century deciding simply not to mention the spore drive, Discovery or its crew ever again as if that fixes continuity questions. A better ending would for Discovery to go into the future and to disappear from history, existing as a remnant of a erased timeline. No one in the 23rd century would remember the spore drive or Discovery ever existing. The episode should have ended with the Klingons reverted to their more familiar appearance fighting the Enterprise instead of fighting with them.

That's just my opinion though.
i was kinda waiting for that when discovery went thru that the klingons and enterprise were fighting and no one know about discovery
 
There's a good bit of time in between when that's supposed to happen and when the season ended. There's enough to get at least a couple seasons' worth of adventures in by my reckoning.

Well, it happened sometime between "The Cage" and "The Menagerie". "The Cage" is a few years in the past already, so you may be right that there are a couple of years left before that happens.
 
At first I thought that Colt could have been an alien all along, and her human appearance in TOS was a Talosian-generated illusion, but then I remembered that Colt and Number One were taken by the Talosians as possible mates for Pike ("THE WOMEN!").

I actually have been longing for something like this battle in Trek for a while. The slow, plodding fights that are even slower than naval sea battles haven't aged that well, IMO.

And really, if you take out the tiny pods and shuttles, the ships weren't moving around very much at all.
 
As always, the cold light of day is Star Trek's worst enemy. The more I think about it, the more the episode just doesn't sit well with me.

Why not beam out Cornwell?

Nothing Christopher Pike doesn't appreciate more than an act noble sacrifice.
