Thanks for pointing that out. I'm surprised Craft didn't recognize Discovery as an "Ancient" V'draysh ship, then. It was always unconventional-looking, even from the time of the original Ralph McQuarries design, but it still looks like a Starfleet ship all the same. Maybe the designs have changed so much, he couldn't tell.

The 29th Century Federation ship seen in Voyager wasn't really recognisable as a federation ship

It possible that Federation/V'draysh ships which are from even further in the future would be using designs completely different to ships in the 29th let alone the 23rd.

So basically it turns into Voyager?
voyager was a good idea not always implemented properly. I wouldn't mind the concept getting a second chance. The difference here may well be that Discovery crew realizes they cannot and should not go back, and make their way usefully in this new era

It's tough to accept, but some people are saying "we don't know they won't be back...." I think it's pretty clear they won't based on the "cone of silence" that was made a huge plot point here.

Although, if there is a hope, maybe THAT's the Calypso tie-in. The crew makes it back, perhaps for the series finale, and leaves the ship behind.
Too bad movie and tv rights are split.

Burnham: We made it back! We're in Earth year 2258!
Saru: We may have made an error in our calculations though. It's very possible we ended up in an alternate 23rd century timeline instead of our own.
Burnham: You worry too much. Wait--where's Vulcan? It's destroyed? We're being hailed. Spock? How did you age a century in just a year?
Spock: Fascinating. :vulcan:

Here's a question: did Cornwell somehow know about Pike's future? If so, how?

Why even have solar panels? They have dilithium and fusion. Maybe it's a complicated art piece, turning Golden Gate Bridge into the museum-of-ancient-power-collection-devices or something

Maybe it's just where they junked all the lame, trendy solar panels from the quaint 21st century.

I loved the arrival of the cleave ship scene. Looked amazing.

Also I assume the crew of that ship are super loyal to L’Rell, so they won’t uh, tell the rest of the empire that Ash is still alive.

better question is: why are there solar panels on the Golden Gate Bridge.
Why not? Green energy is the future.

The proposal to have the solar panels removed was brought forth to the Historical Committee time after time, but they could never get enough votes to approve removing them. So they stay and the committee moves on to the next item on the municipal agenda. Even if one loud-mouth in the audience won't shut up about it.

Georgiou will make it back some how for the S31 show. Kurtzman implied it would help explain how S31 got to the way it was in DS9 more.

Is the Federation still there in 950 years? Maybe there is no federation. I'm excited for the 950 years thing being entirely new, but again, I would have loved to see a little sneak of it, just to whet the appetite.

The V'draysh in "Calypso" is supposedly the Federation according to Michael Chabon

What a terrible angle to put solar panels, the Golden Gate Bridge runs north to south. Shouldn’t the panels be facing east-west to follow the sun?

The solar panels on my roof mostly face SSE and the sun passes directly over them for 83.4% of the day.
(at least according to the company that installed them and the Wi-Fi device attached)

Besides, by the 23rd century, I'm sure those panels tilt to follow the sun along its path anyway.
