Great episode. Still, not sure why they had to go into the future if Leland was neutralized?

I sort of wish they went only say 400 years in the future, to keep a certain continuity with later ST series’ events. 10 centuries in the future could change everything. Will the Federation still be there? Will people travel between galaxies by then? Temporal Cold War anyone?

Craft story - and certainly the V’ydraish - will likely be a part of it, but maybe not. Also, where in the Beta Quadrant is Terralysium? Closer to Borg space or to the galaxy edge?

Possibilities are now endless, as is the chance to explore new technologies etc. I am happy they are done with prequels - in such a rich universe they are very problematic while the future is always a blank slate.

Kinda weird how fast Kelpians became high tech, but is Saru did it in one lifetime, I guess her sister can too.
They were using the Ba’ul’s tech.

The TMP visual call-back to entering the wormhole was quite a welcome Easter egg.
Wasn’t there a similar effect in Voyage Home?

Is the Michelle Yeoh spinoff dead and she's a reg in Disco now? Hard to reconcile the spin off with her in the future...
No, it isn’t dead.

I honestly thought for like 2 seconds that the pan down to the Enterprise at the very end was going to show it a bit more TOS.

Well didn't Craft in Calypso say they were fighting the V'draysh?

Federation. V sounds like F as in German V'd = Fed, dray=derat, sh=tion. Like in Omega Glory, perhaps over time the word for Federation got jumbled up and they will turn out to be the enemy in S3.

I wonder why we didn't see that guy's face - the one who did the interrogations. Is he a good guy, or a bad guy. Were those interrogations the start of something that doesn't reach fruition for hundreds of years?

I know, crazy. But what the hell. We have nothing to do but speculate for MONTHS.

As for the finale, I gave it a 9. I'm very stingy with my scores, rarely going over an 8. I've not given a 10 yet. I know it had flaws, but I think I can live with a 9. It was either that or an 8 but the ending bumped it up, methinks.

Here ya go...

I know it's not possible, but it almost looks like Leland from that angle.

OMFG!! That was so FREAKIN' AWESOME! I loved it. It basically mixed all of Star Trek into one episode. Very derived from JJ-verse, for starters.

"Evasive pattern Delta Five! All power to forward shields!" -- verbatim from ST'09.

The whole battle was evocative of TUC / ST'09. Burnham's spacejump was plucked from STiD. The Control "swarm" from ST:B.

Loved the rock debris on the bridge from explosions. Very TNG! Nice to see Starfleet Headquarters, too. As Discovery is entering the wormhole, we get to see the streamer effects from TMP of the Enterprise in the wormhole! The only thing missing was Chekov's line "Proooooojeeecttttiiiinggggggg aaaasssssttteeeerrrrrroooiiiiiiddddddd......"

Lastly, the send-off on the Enterprise. Again, very TMP / ST'09.

I look forward to what the future holds, to semi-quote Spock. Love this!!! :techman::techman:

I think he’s just supposed to be a faceless interrogator. Like those people that sentenced Michael in the second episode.

One piece of dialogue from L’Rell confused me, she only referred to ‘THE D7’ was coming, not multiple, yet there were like 5 at the battle.

It was confirmed by the writer of Calypso that the name is an evolution of the word Federation.

I think she just slurred the plural part of that sentence with her Klingonese.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm surprised Craft didn't recognize Discovery as an "Ancient" V'draysh ship, then. It was always unconventional-looking, even from the time of the original Ralph McQuarries design, but it still looks like a Starfleet ship all the same. Maybe the designs have changed so much, he couldn't tell.

Plus everything "DISCOVERY" related, had been wiped from the historical records including what she looked like.

I didn't understand that either. If Leland was defeated, (and actually aboard the damn ship) why did they still need to go through time?

I also asked out loud what Spock and Burnham had landed on.
That would have assumed there were no latent copies of Control somewhere in the 23rd century. Maybe not but they weren't going to pause and wait to find out.
So Number One goes from being a super-smart, logical mind on par with Spock to someone who can't handle mild technobabble from Detmer?
I'm sure she learned arc-seconds like anyone with with a college education but she needed quick answers to do her job, not a lot of details she didn't need to be clouded with to make a call while she's sitting in center seat.

I gave it a 9, because it was a frigging slam-bang hour of television and had probably the most epic battle in the franchise's history, burying Nemesis and Battle at the Binary Stars pretty soundly.

It wasn't flawless by any stretch, and in the grand scheme of the franchise, I'm not sure I like where this is going at all.

But, as I always do, judging it purely on in-the-moment entertainment value and fun, this was really a trip. It was an awesome hour of diverting, visually astounding fun.
Best space battle I've seen on small screen, including Expanse. Very cinematic

It's tough to accept, but some people are saying "we don't know they won't be back...." I think it's pretty clear they won't based on the "cone of silence" that was made a huge plot point here.

Although, if there is a hope, maybe THAT's the Calypso tie-in. The crew makes it back, perhaps for the series finale, and leaves the ship behind.

Yeah, ummm...
Those complaints were also made a year after season one was made and season 2 was pretty much plotted out by then also.

Season 2 was plotted out prior to September 2017 and they didn't make any changes based upon fan reaction or other circumstances?

I suppose it was always their plan to kill Airiam, and it was just good luck for Mitich that she had problems with the makeup that forced her to change characters?

So basically it turns into Voyager?

This Klingon almost looks he could be from TNG

Also I’m sad, there were no good close up shots of the D7, and all of them were in the dark, so no details could be made out.

Going to have to wait for merchandise renders I guess.

That reminded me more of the scene from TUC where Chang tells his crew to cloak and engage the Enterprise, and the lowly bridge officer complies. Looked the same.
