Some (a few) do seek validation, they look for others who believe as they do as it helps them process things that they have difficulty with alone (size of the Kelvin Enterprise from 2009 is a perfect example and it was fantastic entertainment... the film wasnt bad either), on the other hand others (also a few) tend to treat those who simply dont like something as if they need to be convinced otherwise or given counselling, I have actually seen one or two on this board try to do so but I dont think they realised that was what they were doing, I decided to let it be as it made me ponder who needed the counselling more, those who enjoyed the show or those who didnt.Because I honestly don't think ANYONE does. I could be wrong but I honestly don't think @Vger23 or @fireproof78 or anyone else comes here thinking "Wow, I hope someone else likes that so that it validates my feelings on it!" I think they come here to talk about something cool they just watched with other people who think it was cool. Others can feel free to correct me.
For example, I loved The Last Jedi which is a reasonably unpopular opinion, even in the Star Wars forum. Believe me, I don't go in there because I have doubts about my love for it or else my self worth suffers, that would be the absolute wrong place to seek validation. I go in there hoping to discuss the cool things in that movie.

Yeah thats right folks, the internet is in reality a gigantic therapy session for the human race.

As for the Last Jedi, I saw some clips and ended up laughing at times when I was clearly not meant to be which told me everything I needed to know about the script, its no accident that Rian Johnson has not been allowed anywhere near the upcoming final film when he was supposed to be Directing it, that spoke volumes to me, the whole situation was mishandled on pretty much every level by Disney and they got their nose bloodied for it.
As you all know I am pretty lenient on this kind of thing whether its Star Trek or Star Wars but if even I noticed it from just a few clips I can certainly imagine how some die hard fans would react after waiting over 30 years for it, Disney cocked up big time and it looks like they are throwing the kitchen sink at the last film to try and recover the Star Wars IP from the gutter, brave of JJ Abrams to come back in to try and put it on the right track, he didnt have to and I would have understood if he had kept away.
Mind you the Yoda part is gold, I always suspected he was a galaxy class troll.
I wont go any further on this subject as saying this is off topic is putting it mildly.
