Captain Pike spin off petition

Building a big set isn't cheap so it wouldn't surprise me, if they did something more with the Enterprise. If not a full series, maybe a short trek episode or a TV movie or the Enterprise will appear in DIS, Section 31, the Picard series (holodeck, timetravel, etc.) or a new academy series again.

Then can just redress sets as easy thou

Yup, exactly what I was going to add.

Star Trek shows are famous for reusing sets and props, so, even if a Pike series doesn't happen (which would be devastating), that bridge can still be re-purposed. The Shenzou bridge has gotten some great reuse as the bridge of the Leland's ship, after all.

I'll say this.

I never once questioned the production team's love for the original series at any point during Discovery. But the moment that really told me, yes, they are serious fans of it was when we were given that recap of THE CAGE a few weeks back. That told me everything I needed to know about how much they love TOS. And that was something they didn't even have to do. They could've easily explained the events of that episode in the same way Michael did with the Defiant in DESPITE YOURSELF -- just in one, quick sentence.

I am just imagining if a Pike series were to come to fruition, they'd no doubt create an opening sequence similar to TOS and have Anson Mount give a narration like Shatner's. It would be the series most-directly tied with TOS, after all.

well they have made few prequel's that i feel never tie into tos very well,i know tos was wrote in the 60s and never expected star trek to be still going and why even there own cannon does not much up,but a pike show leading up to a tos trek may as well

They've introduced rebooted Pike, then rebooted young Spock, then teased rebooted Number One (barely used). I can see them doing something similar with a Pike series, gradually introducing a few TOS characters with a view to transitioning to a TOS 'reboot'.

For my part, the ultimate grail would be a Phase II post TMP series. The re-imagined technology would not look out of place, it's a largely an unexplored era, with a second 5 year mission, more alien crew, and the shiny movie era ship.

Personally, I'd rather see a post TMP series as an animated series featuring the surviving cast and/or soundalikes.

A post over on the subreddit today has a photograph of a fan meeting Anson Mount, and paraphrases him as saying, "if [fans] want a Pike show, tweet and it and sign the petitions. CBS hears it."

While I'd call myself skeptical of petitions, it suggests (a) there isn't any current plan for a Pike show or limited series and (b) signing a petition might actually be worthwhile.

Seeing the Enterprise in all her glory felt like coming home even if TOS only came into my life after a decade of being a Trek fan. I really loved Mount and Peck's portrayal of Pike and Spock all through this season and with the amount of detail that went into the bridge set too I can definitely see a Pike/Enterprise spin-off being in the works. It goes without saying I'd watch the hell out of it. I'm also wondering what it might be called; my first thought was Star Trek: Pike, but it's a bit too character-centric... maybe Star Trek: 1701, I think this one has a nice ring to it.
If they did go that way, I think Star Trek: 1701 as well. Then, when Pike starts training cadets, it wouldn't be too jarring a change to Star Trek: 90210 :rommie:

But seriously, I'd thought 1701 would work before I'd seen this thread. I can't think of anything else that's been suggested that I would prefer as a title for a Pike on the Enterprise show, even though I'm not even convinced I want one. When the Enterprise turned up at the end of series 1, I really did, but through the events of the second series, it feels like enough of a lead in to Managerie for me. That's why I think a few TV movies or mini series might be better.

My heart definitely skipped a beat when Enterprise parked next to Discovery. It reminded me just how much I love that ship and all who sailed in her.
