By the time it all ends it will have made it through 5 American presidents with 2 of them getting two terms under the shows era. That also would have been my first year of college. It's even older sort of the internet. I mean the internet was around but I think it didn't get big until a couple of years later in the mainstream. Yet somehow in all these years all I have seen, not counting moments while channel flipping which I also don't do anymore because it was around before chord cutting, all I have seen is the "Jag" pilot and I think maybe the second episode were the Jag team used to have another lady lead in the pilot. That seems strange since a show just started on CBS called The Code and it's similar to JAG. All Marine lawyers though. I guess it wouldn't be the first time CBS has had similar shows on at the same time.
It seems the JAG revival won't be about lawyers as obviously the JAG people have moved on after 15 years. (Unlike The X-Files.) But yeah, it's CBS, it's all the same junk show.
You mean like how they have NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans and previously had CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: New York, CSI: Cyber and also attempted NCIS: Code Red? And sort of, The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, about the same character at two ages? Nope, CBS has never been one to reuse a premise.
NBC is just as bad, with L&O, L&O: Special Victims Unit, L&O: Criminal Intent, L&O: Trial by Jury, L&O: Los Angeles, the true-crime L&O limited series about the Menendez brothers, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med.
Most shocking is Young Sheldon is funnier, has more heart, and is just more enjoyable in the 5 episodes I have seen than in the 5+ seasons of Big Bang Theory I have seen.
And CBS has FBI from Dick Wolf and the first season isn't even over yet and they've already aired a backdoor pilot for a spin off. And Wolf even has an idea for another FBI spin off. CBS just loves their crime procedural franchises.
I guess that's some people's bread and butter. I'm simply bored by them now and I have been so for more than a decade.
Yep I got bored with along with Doctor and Lawyer shows as well. I do want to try"The Good Wife" at some point but it's not a priority on my "shows to watch" list. Jason
I didn't really start to extremely enjoy the Good Wife until season 3, when I began noticing that the same characters kept coming back to readdress their old stories, which was cool. Universe building.
I can't watch The Good Wife, I can't stand Julianna Margulies. She seems like a truly awful person to be around, unprofessional and a horrible blah actress most of the time.
Heck, back in the seventies, CBS aired multiple spin-offs of both The Mary Tyler Moore Show and All In the Family.
Well I think it's safe to say that DS9,Voyager and even Enterprise were more spin-offs from TNG than they were TOS. Jason
Back in the 70’s NBC had all the Jack Webb Dragnet shows from the color Dragnet to Adam-12 to Emergency! To The D.A.
Except they weren't all branded as Dragnet or marketed as a franchise the way L&O, CSI, NCIS, etc. are.
They may not have branded them that way, but there were numerous crossovers. I’m still waiting for someone to put “The D.A.” out on DVD as the “Adam-12” episode “The Radical” was part-1 of a 2-part story where Part 2 was “The D.A.”’s ‘The People vs. Saydo’ episode. Plus the Adam-12 characters appeared in some of the later “Dragnet” episodes (Martin Milner & Kent McCord both appeared on Dragnet is different roles early on, but in “Internal Affairs DR-20” they appear as Reed & Mallow, and later Sergeant Macdonald appears in “Personnel: The Shooting”—-Again William Boyett had appeared as other charactets), and “Emergency” episodes, while the “Emergency” cast crossed over to “Adam-12” a couple of times, and “Adam-12”’s Season Six finale wasn’t even an “Adam-12” episode but a pilot for another “D.A.”-type show with Reed& Malloy only showing up at the beginning & end.
