USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

I have one tiny nitpick, but it's not about the bridge. I always assumed that the briefing room in WNMHGB was on deck 2 at the center of the saucer. Now it has two round portholes that suggest it's somewhere much lower in the saucer, and not centered. This seems odd to me for a circular room.

It looks really nice though.
It's hard to tell but i THINK the red cushions in the back are that red-and-gold pattern that showed up all over the place on TOS Enterprise

This looks much better than what we saw in the JJ Abrams films. We've finally reached the point where TV production design is capable of exceeding movie production design. (special exemption for the 1978 Galactica bridge, which looked unbelievably great when it first aired)
CBS certainly hasnt skimped on the budget and it shows, they went all in.

I thought the JJBridge was great as well.

I’m pretty sure:

1. This is a redress if a set from last year that was used twice, once as a conference room in a space station and once in on the Discovery.

2. It looks like there are two round windows on what might be deck 2 below the bridge on both the port and starboard sides.

Given that the room was already round. That’s probably why you can’t tell which side. It works well enough for me.

You mean from the sickbay beds? I think it could be.

I absolutely loved the Enterprise sets. The team nailed it. Definitely in-keeping with Discovery, but very obviously our Enterprise. The briefing room was an unexpected little highlight.

Honestly it would be a shame if they only appear in these two episodes. Give us more Enterprise!

From the inside, the windows seem to tilt downward. That's not such a good fit for deck 2 but there are matching windows on about deck 7.

You are right. That's the one thing that makes me doubtful. But It makes the most since that the captain would use a briefing room (surely there is more than one) that is closest to the bridge. I am willing to guess that the production designer would say the slant is an in-universe design choice. I hope we get another look at it next week ... or during the Pike era (mini)series that sure to come!

Some people have complained about the medium gray walls, along with the red and/or orange accents I think it's pretty brilliant. Such a respectful upgrade of TOS. I like the The Underscovered Country connection as well. I think Tamara Deverell has really done an outstanding job on every since she took over. The Mirror Universe, the new ready room, the Enterprise. Just wonderful stuff. I very much prefer this bridge over the Kelvin timeline versions.

The "refit" of the Enterprise bridge from Pike's shiny one to Kirk's drab one (chronologically, in-universe) reminds me of the time my office "upgraded" my work desktop PC to a far weaker laptop on a dock (just in case I needed to work travel).

It's not going to turn into the TOS one.

I liked what I saw but I stand by what I said, it looks like enough of a mash-up that I'm still conscious of it. They did what they set out to do. At this point, TOS looks the least like the other series, and they made an Enterprise that was in-line with the rest of Star Trek. The exterior looks like something that could come in-between ENT and TMP. The interior still has the TOS Flavor but it's been brought in-line with Disco. So now it's an Enterprise that fits in.

An
Enterprise. It's not the Enterprise. Because it couldn't be. It would've looked totally and completely out of place. And the producers/designers have a point about not wanting to put together something with their budget that looks like something a fan-film can do.

It will in 2265, and I doubt any of the new shows will last that long. Even starting a Pike show now for a 7 year run brings us up to 2264. The chances of actually remaking TOS are extremely small because that show already exists. So nothing prevents a refit after the Pike show, or whatever.

Canon (visual evidence from the shows itself) shows that the bridge does change. How or why doesn't matter, just that it's done before 'Where no man has gone before'. Pretending it's the same when direct video evidence shows otherwise is fanon (no offense).

I mentioned this in another thread but I'll post again here. I spoke to Tamara a couple months ago about the set. To be fair she is really the true designer of the set, she is more responsible for overseeing it from concept to production. The actual designer was Matt Morgan who is also responsible for designing the Discovery bridge and Sickbay. Everyone did a great job though.

They did do a good job. I probably sound overly harsh but I was pointing out what I noticed while I was watching because they were jumping out to me. To most viewers, it probably wouldn't jump out as much, if at all. And I'm impressed that as much of TOS was retained as it was. I honestly expected the Enterprise to look more like something out of Star Trek VI and I'm glad they didn't do that.

Comparing the two updates of the Original Enterprise: Though I understand the Abrams Films had to do their own thing, I prefer Discovery's version.
