The Casting of this series is extremely bad

For me, the big miss on Enterprise was Scott Bakula. He never seemed comfortable in the role.
For me Scott Bakula looks like young and lean version of Gene Roddenberry. It may be only my impression, but who knows...

I've warmed to Discovery a bit this season, but I think it is still subpar when compared both to prior Star Trek series and modern dramas.

I'd really like for them to take off in their own direction and build their own legacy.

I definitely think DSC could benefit from slowing down a bit and not constantly rushing from one place to the next at top speed, but I still find it a whole lot more engaging to watch than VOY and ENT, which seemed incredibly stale and formulaic to me even back then. And the fact it's a more serialized storyline where things don't magically reset at the end of every episode and character actions have consequences down the line makes it lightyears better to me as well.

It's definitely not at the level of the first three series in my book, but it's much better written and a huge step up from the overly simplistic Abrams movies, which I'm really grateful for.

I think the TOS uniforms (the shirt and trousers not the micro-mini) look comfortable. Just what you'd want on a long 5 year mission.

I love the TOS uniforms! The rest of the other series and especially ENT and DSC not so much! The originals are like you say comfortable looking where the jumpsuits and shoulder pad jobs aren't! Butt he Garage mechanic and glittersuits are just awful! :techman:

Before DSC the only Starfleet uniforms I actively disliked or never cared for were the TMP designs, the "All Good Things...(TNG)"/"The Visitor(DS9)"/"Endgame(VOY)" uniforms from the 2390s-2400s and the 29th century uniforms seen in "Relativity(VOY)."

The TNG pajama uniforms from Seasons 1 and 2 not as vociferously as I once did but they're still among my least-favorite. They don't look as bad on background officers and extras as they do on the series' main characters.

"Micro-mini" like in TOS could be comfortable too. If girls have a choice, not all of them decline pretty dresses.
My respect to TOS for their universal orthopedic heels! Other series showed boots without heels, or enormous heels for women only.

You know what astronauts and pilots wear in real life, right?

Just out of curiously, is there any single thing in the trek pantheon you don't think that TOS did best?

I think TOS did it best, by a fairly large margin versus what came late. Of course, my formative years were during a time when TOS was the only game in town.
