I couldn't help but think "man, the Burnham Haters are going to have a fucking stroke with this one" all through the episode. Literally every scene is going to be like puttin a burning match near a steam burn for them.

I am sure many of them were hoping that Burham would actually die and were cheering during the death scene, never mind she is the star of the show and that was never going to happen..

Can someone explain how the colony of New Eden fits into the angel appearing only when Burnham is in mortal danger? As far as both we and the other characters know, she wasn't present during WWII...

There's definitely more to it than just showing up to save Burnham. The signals were patterns, often times initiating seemingly unrelated rescue type missions.

I think the linkages are still part of the mystery

So, it looks like I was right in my prediction of the identity of the Red Angel a few weeks back. The red herring at the beginning of this episode did - like many - throw me off. But once the scene with Leland describing how Michael's parents built the suit happened - and the suit "vanished" over 20 years ago - my spidey-sense started tingling again. So the final reveal here didn't surprise me at all.

As for the episode itself...I rated it a 8. First half would be a six, second half 10 though. I just felt like the beginning of the episode was chock full of expository shit and discussions which didn't fully work (Ash's hallfhearted defense of Section 31, Burnham's rage at Leland about what - while tragic - was just a mistake, etc). Somewhere around the halfway point though the emotional beats started hitting for me, and I was engrossed.

This was also - by far - the best performance SMG has had the entire season in terms of range. Anyone who thinks she's a wooden actor after this is cray-cray.
