USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

It’s a visual reboot. The story events in the prime universe happen as they happened. It looks different, because it’s a.....
Visual Reboot.
This is not a profound observation. I look at it like that and the differences resolve themselves because...
It looks right either way. I don’t let the differences affect my enjoyment. In fact I find them interesting.
So enjoy it or not based on the story and character merits. That’s my advice. Star Trek in the 23rd century looks like TOS.
And DSC.

That's a weird thing with Discovery. It seems like they're trying to have their cake and eat it too, both changing the visuals and designs to large degrees, and yet throwing bones at fans such as the line about Pike asking them to remove the holographic displays on the Enterprise, etc.

The message sent last night by the production staff was quite clear: there is no difference between the Cage visuals and those of Discovery. The Enterprise? Same. The Talosians? Same. Heck, they cut directly between shots of Hunter Pike and Mount Pike. SAME!

The Cage / Discovery / TOS / TAS, whatever. They are in the same universe. I don't see a difference.

Same here. It's especially apparent to me (anyway-IMHO and all that) is that the events are the important part, as well as the characters, not all the visual trappings. Why? Because the idea is to imagine future tech based upon present knowledge.

Sigh. It's a mess. The charactizations have been changed, events rewritten the technology altered, nothing looks the way it did, but the last episode was a sequel to "The Cage" (even though they ignored General Order 7). They want their reboot cake and to [prime universe] eat it too.

:shrug:Whatever.

Use your imagination, suspension of disbelief.

Also a date was ever given for General Order 7.

And characterizations are changed all the time in Trek.

What events have been rewritten?
Everything I've seen has been brand new info to the Trek-scape.

Well, since DISCOVERY is a prequel to TOS and a sequel to ENTERPRISE, I suppose it does boggle some folks minds on how to intermingle everything.

I kinda-sorta go with very loose interpretations of both.
:techman:

He’s probably going to bring up Balance of Terror
That obviously happened a little differently, "Affliction"/"Divergence" didn't happen at all it seems so Klingons aren't cowardly Augment humans in TOS anymore, "The Cage" is different since Pike being a sexist pig is totally at odds with his depiction in Disco, and on, and on, and on.

Don't bother with the point-by-point rebuttals since we've already done it a dozen times. They have changed things, but it's still prime and they're directly tying into whatever bits they want and ignoring whatever they don't. It's pointless arguing it anymore.
