The Down Under Lounge

The government is saying it will throw $2 billion over ten years at a climate change fund.

*cough*

*tumbleweed blows by*

Anyone caught the stench of an election approaching?

a conservative could carry out a massacre in the heart of Sydney and bolt would believe them innocent.

as for pell he's looking at a least one night behind bars after dropping his plan to apply for bail.

hopefull the pope will show some resolve after last weeks conference at the vatican and defrock pell.

At the very least. We will have to wait and see.

Well as I've said in a couple of other places today. Looks like not only can we save money by sacking our our climate scientists and listening to Bolt (who knows all). Turns out we can also get rid of our judicial system as Bolt has a clearer understanding of innocence and guilt than the judge and jury who heard all the evidence.

yes all the conservatives are having a whinge about how poor george has been treated, claiming how ABC and Fairfax journalists set out to portray his as a monster etc etc.

given his treatment of victims of abuse by catholic priest rotting in jail would be poetic justice.

and I see lying rodent has given a character reference except johnny's history with priests ain't good c.f peter hollingworth.

The thrashing about of the LNP as the election approaches, and the rats abandoning the sinking ship, is astounding to watch. We are verging on being ungoverned at the moment.

Rumour has it Poodle Pyne will be the next to jump ship, for some kind of defence industries position.

Geez you have to wonder how desperate the defence industry is people if they'd take on pyne. other than about 6 months as a lawyer following uni graduation the poodle has been in parliament and his handling of the defence portfolio has been a typical pyne clusterfuck.

Will be intersting to see if he does jump. the morning murdoch in Adelaide was reporting the other day that internal lib polling was showing that he'd hold his seat with ease. Though that was at the time ipsos came out with the poll that showed 2pp had narrowed to 51/49 before both newpoll and essential showed it to be an outlier.

It's not so much about his knowledge or abilities, it's all about his connections in Canberra. Defence industries can employ plenty of people with knowledge and ability, but having someone who can pick up the phone and establish a direct line to the government is an asset if you want to set the agenda.

And now two more ministers may be LEAVING the Liberal party. One of them is Christopher Pyne.

So why won't Morrison call an early election, come on Scotty the ship is holed and about to sink.

Though given the libs on track for an almighty kicking at the next election I'm not sure that pyne would be much of an assert.

plus pyne is going to walk away with a $220,000 pa pension for the rest of his life so why would he even need to work.

and had a thought will former lib mp's turned lobbyists find themselves out of a job? andrew robb might not be so useful now if the lnp gets the punt.

It's like 27 here at almost 3am wtf, cannot sleep

thought the heat never bothered you?

And I see the Mike Willese has died. I have to admit I can't remember much of his time on tv except for one thing. Back in the days when Penthouse had an Australia edition, they featured a story on the photo-shoot for Pet of the Year.

Pretty much full frontal nudity on tv at 7pm. They'd never get away these days. Then again what passes for current affairs on the commercial stations has long been a massive joke (albeit a high rating one).

What you don't like them chasing dodgy tradespeople on TV? /s

Sad about Mike Willese he was a good journalist.

@teacake 1230 at night and it was 33 here. There's something really off putting about the weather when it's 33 after midnight. Sleep what's that?

You'd be surprised - even if the Libs aren't in government, the vast majority of people in the Dept of Defence will remain in their jobs and those are the people who really make the decisions and they're the ones he'd have access to.
