USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

Are we sure they've made the bridge at all?
Someone on set instagrammed saying there was a bridge build. But he might have been joking, or wrong about what ship it was.

We also have Rebecca Romijn's comment about a set she can't talk about being emotional for her, because she watched TOS with her mother.

They also have a re-designed Enterprise Captain's chair in the opening credits.

got my eaglemoss magazine on the enterprise just now and wanted to revisit this image:

we've talked about the transparent observation area before, but have we discussed what little we can see of the bridge here? the view screen is the same shape as discovery's, you can see what looks to be the navigation console, oh and that white thing at the bottom of the dome seems to be a window.

Good observation!
Looks like the bridge will have the traditional "railing" going on, and the middle console looks also interesting.

That being said: I still do haaate this large, empty area. The two doors leading into nothing make it even worse. The beauty of the original design was it fake-functionality, where every little thing seemed to have a purpose. This here is just baaad engineering. Why couldn't they have just made the bridge window a small slit, like the front window below? That makes much more sense, and also leaves a LOT of space where they can have their cool opacity effect.

I also find the design to be somewhat bizarre - and the two red doors addition makes the space quite strange - evoking something of a sporting squash-court in front of the bridge.

Pike: ‘Number One! Grab your racket - it’s time to play!’

Number One: ‘Yes Captain!’

[Pike enters gap room through red door while Number One enters through the other. Pike throws the ball into air and says ‘hit it’]

Spock [from the bleachers behind view screen] shouts ‘THE TOWELS!’

;)

What bothers me here is, they could've made that "thing at the bottom" the light source for the registry number like it was on the TMP refit and not needed that cut out/set of windows that never appeared on any version of the ship.

Looks like a hybrid of TOS, STVI and Disco to me. Good catch.

Not to be too much of a party-pooper, but that's almost certainly the pre-final, straight-pylon model, so it would've been made well within the first season, long before we saw the hint of the Discoprise interior in "Brother," never mind whatever comes up later in the show, so all the interior details we can see are extrapolations that may not have any resemblance to the sets that are ultimately built. No sense in getting excited for plain-jane red doors that probably won't show up.

ETA: It occurs to me that that's already happened; many, if not all, of the rectangular windows on the Enterprise were replaced with Discovery-style rabbit-tooth windows (a reasonable guess, given that they had to carve in new rabbit-tooth windows on the Shenzhou when we saw the Captain's quarters late in the season), but the only room we've seen on the Enterprise so far was a redress of the brig, not the quarters/mess hall set, and it had a big rectangular window that better matched the original model and not the assumption the designers made about which sets would be used to show the ship.

[Pike and Number One finish their squash game, grab their respective towels and make their way to the exits, only to discover both red doors have now disappeared...]

Spock smiles uncharacteristically and shouts: ‘THE DOORS!’

[End of Pilot Episode: The Cage]

My thinking was it could be a lounge of some kind, it just doesn't have any furniture in that image.

More like a VIP observation deck.
