They may not have referenced GO24, but didn’t Sisko kind of use it against Eddington ?

No, that was strictly personal. Sisko never cited Starfleet regs, he just had his own vendetta against Eddington.

Prime Lorca will eventually show up. Just saying. :nyah:

Damn straight. And I'm sure Isaacs would jump at the chance to play ReguLorca - all indications are that he greatly enjoyed his time on the show, I'm sure he'd love to return.

I also judge intent. Section 31's intent is to eradicate what they consider threats, but by advocating genocide, and carrying it out (only being thwarted at the last minute because they went through with it), they chose to believe that all of one species is guilty, that all are culpable just by existing. You should know, from history, what kind of world emerges from such an ideology.

Well, in the case of the Dominion, all of the one species were out to destroy the Federation. They were a combined linked mind. Only Odo was odd man out, not being raised in the link. Go ahead, S31, take 'em out.

Well, they can now join McCoy, Scotty, Checkov, Spock (Search for Spock), Kirk (Generations, Amok Time?), Tasha (off screen + Yesterday's Enterprise), Data (last TNG movie), everyone on TNG (time loop), and nearly everyone on Voyager (Harry Kim time travel from the future)as being brought back in some fashion at least once.
We are in Peak TV era!! characters should be killed for goood! :P
I suggest they start with Burhnam ;)

Season 2 will end with Fleet Captain Lorca stepping aboard Discovery holding a new bowl of fortune cookies and shaking Pike's hand, "Well, Captain, this is awkward, but the best way to get into a .. the hell am I doing? I'm taking command. You're relieved. Get back your old ship. Bye."

Yes. He had this interesting post on Twitter after episode 2 of this season:

Ducked out of the ugliness of the world to watch @StarTrekNetflix ep2 last night and felt proudly in awe of what superbly talented storytellers all my Discovery family are. Odd because I remember you all as idiots. And you, @ansonmount, just stop it will you? Even I prefer Pike.

So murder the entire species. I honestly had no idea so many people were into the idea of just wiping out whole populations.

"They want to murder us!"
"Well, we'll murder all of them! That will show them for wanting to murder all of us!"

Great examples of humanity's growth. Yikes!

Earth maybe post-scarcity, but the rest of the Galaxy obviously is not. at Sisko said, "it's easy to be a saint in paradise".
It's also, apparently, easy to write off an entire species because "fuck yeah." This Section 31 show's going to do great.

Does 'eye for an eye; tooth for a tooth' even apply to a species that has neither?

Good point! I have a better idea: I say we have our best fighter go up against their best fighter. The losing faction has to give up on invasion forever. The winner gets to keep all of the space they've won, but leaves everyone else alone for good. Everyone can bet on it, and then when it's all said and done, share the Prophets.

If push comes to shove blockade the Bajoran Wormhole and prevent any further Changelings from coming through. Given enough time and with the proper communication with the Prophets in the Wormhole the Federation might have been able to shut down the gateway from the Gamma Quadrant. The Alpha Quadrant would have lost the only stable wormhole known to exist but given that the bloodiest war in human as well as Alpha Quadrant history had resulted from travel to and from the Gamma Quadrant it might have been a small price to pay to keep the Dominion from ever attempting another war of conquest against the Alpha Quadrant.

The third in a row of (hit and) misses.

Bringing the doctor back... Of course, they had to get the 2nd part to the gay couple back... Stamets moping around alone isn't really interesting, after all. Beyer kind of reused her Eternal Tide vibes here... urgh, didn't work for me back with Janeway, doesn't work here either. Death should remain death - especially since Tyler's back and would have had to face his crime. Now, we'll have an episode of "but he did that to me", after that Tyler's going to do some heroics and everything's forgotten.

The rest of the episode: Since when is the myzelial network visible? It was a nice effekt having Enterprise stuck - but it doesn't make much sense.

Section 31 - interesting that knowledge of it is wide-spread - when do they retreat into anonymity?

Overall: This show still doesn't manage to make me care one iota about its characters. SMG speaks her text as though she's reading it from a page, the connection to established Trek with Spock's family seems artificial at best, Stamets and Tilly are just annoying and we don't see too much of the rest of the characters. I like Pike, but that's not something this show can congratulate itself for - I've liked him since TOS/ST09.

I rated it a 7. I liked everything but Section 31 and MU Georgiou. I can’t stand the character - she drags down every episode she turns up in to me.

Yes. Because at that point they had realised that people actually really liked this character they had just meant to be a redshirt, and had realised that they had accidentally written 'bury your gays' trope. All of it had been written and filmed way before the announcement.

No shit, Sherlock! It is called 'conjecture.'

Quite fair speculation I would argue - the best evidence is the total lack of setup at the time for a return. They had to retcon in a delayed death, the interdimensional teardrop and some other handwaving to 'explain' the resurrection. There was no gateway left open in season 1 like there was with, say, Spock. Nothing cleverly placed which in retrospect made sense. I certainly believe they intended Culber's death to be permanent (visions aside) when they filmed it. By the time they did After Trek they had changed their mind, and then when it came to writing season 2 they had to invent a resurrection plot from no starting point.

Happy Culber's back, and Trek has its best written couple again. But I don't buy that this was the plan all along.
