I’ll share later tonight, but I wanted to leave it open for anyone who wants to get the ball rolling.
Garak is one of my favorite characters, but I'm kind of torn when it comes to books about him. On one hand, he's a fascinating character and I like learning more about him, on the other, one of the reasons I like him is because he's mysterious. I kind of wish they had told interesting, but contradictory, versions of his backstory. P.S. Be sure to check out the fanfic Garak story "Scorched Earth" by Una McCormack if you haven't. Paris tipped me off to it recently, and I wasn't disappointed.
I liked it. Garak was on Earth. I don't remember any details, but it is worth a try. If you find it as good as A Stitch... or not remains to be seen.
There's a lot of great content in A Stitch in Time: post-war Cardassia, Garak's time at Bamarren, his relationship with Palandine, assignment to Romulus, the assignment to scupper the peace talks with the Federation and encounter Humans for the first time), encountering the Oralian Way, how he and Dukat came to be enemies etc
This book is so highly regarded. I have even read reviews where people called this the Haruki Murakami of Star Trek books. While it is good it isn't the great book I expected it to be. There are other Star Trek novels I like more. It could be my expectation was too impossibly high from the good word on this but I would say there is no rush to go out and read this now.
I give all the props to Andrew Robinson for writing every word of this book himself. Not once did he ever use a ghost-writer.
It remains the only book I've bought via Google Play. I prefer having a book in my hands but getting your hands on this... Still, I had to read it and wasn't disappointed.
Nice cover art. I read this novel a long time ago there were things about Garak's past that were really intriguing and the actor who created this character wrote a really interesting ds9 novel. His short story that was a sequel is worth reading too.
