The Discovery crew had nothing to do with Talos IV. Also, Pike and the Enterprise crew had already made their visit.

I think Kirk won't be on Discovery. "How can you tell that?" "I trust my instincts." Too many people who aren't too crazy about the show are insisting he'll show up for sure. Not "it's a cool idea" but "he'll definitely show up!" So, because of that, I think he won't show up.
Like I said before, there's no reason in a Discovery context in which for him to appear. DSC doesn't have the connections to Kirk like it has the connections to Spock.

Number One after Pike is okay. But I prefer the Captain either be Saru or Burnham. In that order.
I'll wait and see where they go with Number One before I decide if she should get the spot. Though Saru and then Burnham is a must while the show wraps up.
Maybe Saru gets to be Captain on another ship instead of on DSC. My impression is Burnham will be the last Captain of DSC.
Now Saru has evolved into Balls of Steel Saru™, I can see him being captain next season.
