I figured them killing off the token white guy last week for mansplaining would be the end of it. But no.

I suppose this is probably still Gretchen Berg’s Trek. Hopefully it’ll grow up eventually since she got kicked out.

Depends on the context. Given the character and situation I am failing to find the outrage here. And I fail to see the need to go looking for trouble.

Perhaps Georgiou is also trying to appeal to L'Rell's sense of vanity?

Since Georgy is talking to a female Chancellor, she''s trying to get on L'Rell's good side by playing that up - meaning, since L'Rell is a woman, male Klingons obviously couldn't succeed the way she did. Georgy wants L'Rell to think she's superior because she's a woman. Again, that's how people in the MU think - in absolutely racist and sexist terms.

If Georgy had been talking to a male Klingon, she probably WOULD have said something about "tiny female minds".

That was hilarious, they should do it again.

Bring back Spore Ghost Connoly just for him to die again.

I hope not. It's the audience that needs to grow up if they find this offensive.

That's the same way I read it. Georgiou wants to appeal to L'Rell's ego and build her up so she doesn't waver. If she stays in power, they know the Empire won't go to war with them.

Georgiou strikes me as someone who really doesn't give a shit and will say whatever she needs to say to get what she wants out of people. Until it's time to turn on them. Right now, it's in her best interests to feed L'Rell's ego. And L'Rell is Mother in an otherwise largely male-dominated Empire. Whoever rules has to feel superior to those underneath them. As a former Emperor, Georgiou would understand that and wants L'Rell to feel the same way.

As a Terran -- and as a woman -- she can tell L'Rell things that a male Human, for instance, couldn't.

If it was a guy named "Phil" saying the same type of thing I'd feel the same if it fit his established character.

Yeah, if a male character identical to Georgiou also said it, I'd be fine with it, because that character is an evil dictator.

If the character is meant to be a bad or evil person, I have no issue with them being sexist, racist or any type of -ist or -phobic. As long as it fits with their established personality.
