Thinking about it some more, it was that Section 31 ending that really screwed the episode over in my opinion. If the L'Rell baby kidnapping had been resolved in some other way, something based in the character work done so far in the episode (and if the Tilly plotline had been given an actual ending, an omission that irritated the shit out of me) I'd probably have put this on par with the season premiere. (New Eden is still my favorite out of the three.) But alas, they had to have Space Hitler Deus Ex Machina, and they whizzed all over my good mood.

I loved how Amanda basically walked out on Micheal at the end, furious at what Micheal had done to push Spock away long ago - that we didn't get the neat and easy resolution

I didn't buy that. Burnham's description was just too nebulous and thinly sketched for Amanda to proclaim that her daughter has damaged Spock "irreparably." Way to lack empathy, Amanda.

That scene might have worked after some big reveal, but, as written, it didn't square with Jane Wyatt's Amanda at all, IMO.

The section 31 one ship appeared to have some sort of ‘cloak’ that looked similar to the one the Helicarrier in the marvel movies had.

It didn’t look like any previous cloaks in the franchise.

I think Mia Kirschner's doing a fine job as Amanda. She's convincing, even if her interpretation of the character's much more Winona Ryder than Jane Wyatt.

It's just the writing for her felt weird this time. Can't put my finger on it. I need to rewatch to figure out why.

Yeah, Section 31 AND the Klingons? Not really my thing. It wasn’t a bad episode per se, just not one I found all that engaging. But the stuff with Tilly was good. Interested to see where that goes.

6/10. (I would have given it a 5 but... no Connolly. :p)

I really hope there's more to the Tilly story, This was the most predictable outcome possible. And Burnham's diagnostic skills were quite amazing, weren't they? Don't go to Sickbay, Tilly!

When even a character in the show can figure out the resolution to your mystery in five seconds, you might need a rewrite.

So rewatching the end with subtitles, ‘Control’ is capitalized.

The preview for next week showed that we weren't done with the creepy bloby thing.

I don’t see how. This was nothing like season 1, it was better.

Fuck it. This is Discovery to a T. "Point of Light" is everything DSC is from start to finish. And the example I'll point to when other people ask about the show.

You'd feel comfortable showing this episode to someone, in order to win them over to the show? :/

Fascinating...

And Burnham's diagnostic skills were quite amazing, weren't they? Don't go to Sickbay, Tilly!

Always go to Burnham for help, insight or advice on anything.

Seemed to work out well for Tilly, Amanda, Pike and Tyler/Voq in this episode.
