Spoilers Do you wish SPOILER had lived? (S2E1 Brother)

Honestly, the guy was so bland and had no presence, I barely noticed he was killed. He's more memorable as the guy the Saurian sneezed on.
If you have to get liquored up to tolerate a television show, you're doing life wrong.
I know, right? Watching TV is the one thing I put an effort to stay sober for.

There were two nobodies on that away mission, and Red didn't have enough lines to make the impression they were hoping for. Connolly was doomed.

Oh, and that thing with Linus, rather funny in the trailer, was painful to watch.

Yeah, most jokes fall flat once you know the punchline.
(but I still chuckled a little knowing it was coming)

Because it's best not to go into this show fully sober.
Than stop watching it. Why put yourself through the torture? If you don’t like something, don’t do it.

Thats something children learn.

Lighten up. It was a joke, not even addressed to you.

I don't take this silly show seriously.

Your mileage may vary.

The actor was pretty good and he at least had a distinct personality. The lady in red with the stuff on her face didn't really make much of a impression on me but he did.
Do you think we'll see much more of the lady in red either? I figured they were both the weekly random landing party tag-along members. We already have a new recurring engineer character, Reno. Engineer stuff-on-face and science officer Connolly (if he survived) would probably be the Gates and Ayala of this show.

Not a fan of Connelly: not his being an arse (how did this guy become any kind of officer on Pike’s Enterprise?), not his being so obviously set up just to be “wrong” to Burnham’s “right”, and not his too-predictable death. He was pointless except as a clarified exposition dump and a guy to be the butt of the joke. Even Olsen in 09 had more to him: you got the sense that this was a guy like Styles in Balance of Terror, eager for action against Romulans (“kick some Romulan arse!”) and a bit of an arrogant thrill-seeker, enjoying the jump too much. Connelly was… just there, solely to be a dick and die.

Revolve around her and her being a Deus Ex Machina on legs are 2 very different things

Anyone watching the first season knew exactly what they were going to be getting from this group. Is it ideal? No. But it is what it is.
