I got the reference to the multicolored uniforms being a brand-new issue, but does anybody know why Pike and his Enterprise crewmembers had different badges?

1. Tilly just seems wrong this season. She was a breath of fresh air last season, when everything was dark and dour. But with the lighter mood she stands out more in a bad way - as if she's a character who mistakenly wandered in from another show. I found this strange, because I feel like Stamets and Saru were picture-perfect and treated as well rounded characters. But Tilly just seems like...a joke character.

The problem with Tilly now is the whole tone of the series is a lot lighter. Pike brings a lot of levity, and so did Saru. Tilly's over-the-top Girlmore Girls overly-caffeinated millennial speak doesn't really contrast dour and darkness anymore, and is being exposed for how cheesy it actually is.

Maybe it will tone down after the Harbarts/Berg episodes have passed. The Tilly character seems to be right outta their wheelhouse.

I'm fine with Tilly has part of the nerd crew in engineering. Basically Stamets and her could be the Fitz/Simmons of the show. But this Tilly as Captain talk is really cringey. Keep her off the bridge and away from command. It would be like making Neelix a Captain.

Strong start for season 2. I feel everybody got their shit together and there was a strong sense of vision and unity. I hope this portends a better pace than season 1, and allows ideas and storylines to be fully realized rather than be quickly strangled to make room for the next underdeveloped idea.

My only nit pick was the asteroid/pod sequence. I felt it went on too long and the demise of Science Officer what's-his-face was too choreographed. He was such a stereotypical machismo hump of course he was gonna get killed. Not that I'm sorry to see him go, but it felt waaay too obvious.

I vote 9/10.

Would have been more of a beauty if they didn’t squish it. It’s front prfile just looks all wrong.

Rank is on the sleeves on the color uniforms, whereas it was on the badge on the Blues

I heard "Janet Reno", but my question still stands regardless re: why they changed her name.

Good point regarding the tone. She provided levity last season, but this season the tonal shifts make her cringeworthy-ness really stand out. That's not to say I hate Tilly, but I really hope they tone her down some. Granted I understand she has social anxiety, but after being on the crew and through a War already, that should have provided her more growth. I hope they don't do a Kelvin Kirk and make her Captain in short order.

Was Pike talking directly to the fans with that line? :)
Did they check his quantum signature? Should be standard practice on the Discovery.
