Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

Is it true? Not the aliens. Maybe not true, but accurate even. The astonishing claims of these ancient alien investigators. The alignments of ancient monuments, the similarities of geographically distant sites and their placement on the globe. How much is empirical fact, how much is wishful thinking, cherry picking, distortion?

This is on my mind, but only because I settled on a weird TV channel.

The same sources say that Stonehenge, the big pyramids, the great wall of China... etc were all made by aliens.

When is the last time History Channel showed actual history and not made up alien stories?

I have been attempting the feat of a diet of spicy seafood and mixed drinks, then getting up in the morning and working out.

I wonder how many pounds I’ll gain this week.

I wonder why the history channel keeps talking about the same thing, IE nine times out of ten it's about the Nazis and WWII. I know it's important but there are other periods in history!

It used to be the Egyptian and Nazi channel.

While they could have done with far more variety and been far more educational, now...I can't even describe it. Apparently, pawn shops and old car restorations are all the "history" we need.

My father has a huge fascination with the nazis and wwIi and it seems he’s not alone. It’s probably a period that gets them more viewers and hence more money.

Well, I've now been awake all night with no signs of fatigue setting in. That's weird. I knew vacation was screwing with my sleep schedule, but this seems like a bit much.

I wonder if I'm being a bit manic. It'd be a nice change.

Went down south to visit my Mum who is stuck in a terrible job. She intends to leave. Me and my partner went to the beach - hot as hell - had fish and chips and looked at the clouds for an hour. Kinda one of those perfect days. Then I went in to help Mum with all the NYE stuff and came across the most hideous amount of negativity I've ever encountered. She runs a club down here. The staff belittled her. She's gone through a lot between my Dad dying recently and all their pathetic in-fighting ... and more that doesn't need to be mentioned. ... Oh boy, I snapped. Which I don't normally do but I went Gordon Ramsay Kitchen Nightmares on EVERYONE.

All in all, an incredibly satisfying day.

Very few cable channels actually live up to their names. The only thing anybody cares about anymore is ads, so cable TV has become extremely diluted. They just put on whatever they feel like.

You are aware that without viewers, there is zero point in advertising things and even the shittiest TV channels pay attention to their demographics/viewership figures.

Some guy went to drop a delivery at my house. I took the package but refused to sign for it. The guy insisted that I had to sign for it or that he couldn't leave it. I told him to take his package with him and go away and that I never ordered anything, at that point he sort of changed his tone and was insistent that I should take the package, all I had to do is sign for it. I told him that at this point I wouldn't take his package if he gave me money with and told him to leave or I'll call the cops. He left without another word. To me, that must be a scam of a sort. Maybe some of you know about it.

And more importantly, there were no aliens.

Was the shipping address correct? Could have just been delivered to wrong house and he insisted you sign it because of the way his company does performance metrics.

You mean like Syfy showing professional wrestling? :wtf:

You could technically argue it is science fiction. Fights between fictional characters who look like otherworldly monsters. Sounds like sci-fi to me. Only difference is it’s filmed live with fewer special effects.

I sign for my neighbors stuff all the time. They usually leave a card for the neighbour saying that I signed for it and the neighbor then knocks on my door when they get home. No scam.

I am sure it wasn't for my neighbors. He said it was my name and my address.

Ah, that’s different.

I did have an X-Box delivered to my address, the original, with project snowblind. And an IPod Shuffle. I hadn’t ordered them, and there was no indication of where they came from, but I had gone through a spate of entering online competitions at the time.

The problem is that if you sign for it, they can later send you the bill.
