We got a different Spock in TMP as well...the "just out of Kolinhar" guy.
When you think about it, it's really not...logical...that Vulcan men shave at all. It's a waste of time in the beginning of the day which could be put to better use.
Of course, Vulcan women wear makeup and outfits which go beyond mere functionality as well. So aesthetic preferences, while not governed by logic, must not be considered "emotion" by Vulcans.
I’ll say. Have you seen their priestesses?
I wonder if there’s a yin yang thing in their culture.
Infinite diversity in infinite combinations is as far as you can get from two opposing equal forces.
What is it with the hipster/beard thing anyway? Something like 60% of all American men over 20 don't shave on a daily basis.
Beards have been a norm for a while now.
You know the fans have their priorities straight when the primary concerns are Klingon hair and Vulcan beards.
Uhm, is it? It is rather easy to get rid of hair and at no point did Discovery say that Klingons were physically incapable of growing it, so I don't find it unreconcilable at all.The lack of Klingon hair (though as its own universe, Discovery having more alien Klingons doesn't bother me) alters the species in a way that really isn't reconcilable with the rest of "Prime" Trek.

Okay, but that's BTS reasons, none of which are directly relevant for what's reconcilable and what not. I mean, if you'd use BTS reasons you could argue that DSC season 2 isn't in the same universe as season 1 because the creators wanted to make the Klingons more aliens in s1 and now they don't want that anymore. They can rewrite it, but the whole point was to make the Klingons more alien. That is why every single one of them is hairless.

I think the Klingon lack of hair and Spock having a beard are two distinct things, especially when this is supposed to be the same universe as TOS. Imagine if Spock showed up completely hairless and they told us that is the way he is supposed to be going forward?

Prime Spock having a beard really doesn't alter anything down the road, beyond maybe the character not liking facial hair because he's never had any before. Even going through Kolinahr, he managed to figure out a way to shave.
