That would be a great way to connect the FF when they finally join the MCU.

As a BIG FF fan, now that Disney/Marvel has the film rights again, I do hope we get an MCU FF film sooner rather than later. :)

I think you're thinking like an American here. Yes, logically, a court is where you go, and the thought of leadership by combat is kind of ridiculous to us. But still, that's the way they do things.

Thing is, his first duty is to Wakanda, and Killmonger committed no crime in Wakanda. Also, T'Challa committed several felonies himself, notably when he tore up the streets in his chase of Klaue. He also interfered in a CIA investigation. He's not police and was not acting as a diplomat.

As leader of Wakanda, he likely could have bargained for Killmonger as well.

It doesn't matter. His policy, his legacy, the entire essence of his kingship goes beyond Wakanda and requires some level of cooperation from other countries. The damage he caused is fairly easily made good, as long as there's no local politician looking to make a name for themselves by being the anti-Wakanda leader, and would only damage Wakanda's relationship with one specific area anyway.

Killmonger is an international terrorist who murdered innocent people. Quite a few that we saw, and probably more beyond them. Harboring Killmonger is equivalent to harboring Bin Laden. It would turn Wakanda into a global pariah (except maybe with Russia/China and various small kingdoms that want Wakandan technology more than global respect - which is exactly why T'Challa would never give them Wakandan technology, so as soon as they realized that they'd jump on the anti-Wakanda bandwagon, too).

What if the MCU fucks it up? The franchise has released both good and bad movies in the past. How do you know that the FF films produced by Feige are automatically going to be good?

Where did I indicate I automatically expected it to be good? (That said, they have to REALLY fuck up greatly to do worse than the last FF film done by FOX.)

Says you. Most of the rest of us would argue that Marvel Studios is one of the most consistent film studios out there.

And certainly far more consistent than Fox. I'm much more excited about Marvel's take on Fantastic Four than I am X-Men, partially because we haven't had a good Fantastic Four movie yet and I can see them working very well within the MCU. Plus, Stark Tower is empty and waiting to be renamed Baxter.

I liked all the FF movies except Trank's. And that includes Corman's.

A Thing movie would be cool.

    Corman's Dr. Doom was great.

I don't know whether I consider Corman's Fantastic Four movie an underappreciated gem or a guilty pleasure, but either way I enjoyed it as well. Doom was delightfully and magnificently over-the-top, just as Doom should be.

I haven’t seen the Corman film, but it can’t be as bad as any of the FF films that have come out since.

I liked parts of it, but it's a typical Roger Corman B-Movie in terms of overall script and production value. It was done on a 2 million dollar budget, and done so that the company with the film rights didn't loose them (IE the agreement was they needed to make a film using the property every X years or the rights would revert.)

It's cute that the Youtube editor hijacked Marvel's movie logo for the opening of that.

In the end, this movie may be notable for Corman's restraint in NOT recycling Horner's Battle Beyond The Stars theme one more time.

It has a lot of heart. That said, the first 20th Century Fox FF film was pretty good, and better than Corman's.

Evans and Chiklis were great in their 2 FF movies (and, when watching them, I never would’ve pictured Evans as Captain America, but he’s even better in that role). I enjoyed the overall films okay but even at the time they seemed a bit dated and small scale in the wake of of Singer’s X-Men or Raimi’s Spider-man outings.

I don't think it would be the equivalent of bin Laden. Killmonger wasn't anywhere near that high profile. He didn't even last long enough as king for the world to know about it, and the murders were saw were on American soil. Yes, a criminal in the US to be sure, but not in Wakanda.

Moving to Fantastic Four, I would love to see Marvel have a crack at it, with a good and non-controversial cast.

Yes, bin Laden is more high profile, but Killmonger's crimes were international, not just in the us, and they definitely weren't low profile. And there's no better way to make him just as widely known as bin Laden than for the newly out and barely trusted nation of Wakanda to declare him immune to international prosecution.

The longer it goes on, the more unwatchable it becomes. Anyone who thinks this movie has anything more than comic value has lowered the bar for cinematic excellence to the point that it is below sea level.

Me too. I am hoping that the new Captain Marvel movie will open an unknown part of the MCU. I don't want the MCU to introduce the FF as "new" heroes. Maybe they existed in the nineties but have been trapped in the Negative Zone for the last twenty? I would love to see the FF and the X-Men retconned in some way that they have been around for many years but have not been publicly known.
