So now that it's on netflix, I watched Black Panther for the second time, and I think Killmonger made a big mistake not letting the Wakandans heal him.
I firmly will argue that Killmonger committed absolutely no crime under Wakandan law. Yes, he committed crimes abroad, especially in the United States, but barring an extradition treaty with the US, Killmonger could have lived a full life in Wakanda, and should NOT have been locked up.
I doubt an isolated country like Wakanda would have such a treaty.
Everything Killmonger did from the point where he killed Klaue was legal. Klaue was a wanted man in Wakanda, and bringing him back dead was not against their law. In fact, I believe W'Kabi wanted to hunt him down and kill him.
Killmonger's assault on the thrown--also legal. T'Challa accepted the challenge, which was within Killmonger's right.
Once king, Killmonger had autonomy. He had a right to mobilize the military and change years of precedent. He was the king.
He could not have possibly known that the challenge hadn't ended. The fight at the end was arguably a continuation of the challenge, though technically, T'Challa cheated as he had his Black Panther powers at the time. Yes, Killmonger did as well, but that was not the challenge.
One could even argue that T'Challa's hold on the crown is weakened by his failure to defeat Killmonger per the rules of the challenge.
Also, I do not believe that the rules of the challenge allowed Wakandan medicine to heal an opponent in the middle. So T'Challa arguably cheated.
Killmonger not only committed no crime, but he was not properly defeated in the challenge for the crown.
He should have healed himself and gone for round 3.
