I imagine they're probably seen like German soldiers post-WWII, just people following orders rather than part of the evil leadership, but still, continuing to wear the uniform seems to imply that he hasn't renounced the cause.
I'm thinking it's less about not giving up the cause and more about refusing to be ashamed of what he did or why he did it.

Geedo worked for the Hutts since he was little I think, so he was more confortable speaking that. I believe we heard him speaking Basic in I think Clone Wars.
From the perspective of a victim of the Empire, those might basically be the same thing. But that's the question -- what do people think about the Empire in the post-Imperial era, and how much will the show explore that? There's potentially a lot to say there, and this character could be a way to examine those issues.
