The Down Under Lounge

The sooner Canberra is nuked from orbit, the better. What a shambles. The mere thought of having an Islamophobic, xenophobic, racist bigot as PM should terrify anyone, even a politician.

Meanwhile Labor are such utter fucking hypocrites - chortling away and hurling abuse when they themselves were doing the exact same sort of shit a few years ago. Surely we as a country can do better than this collective of self-centred, self-indulgent arseholes who, whatever party they belong to, are infinitely more interested in "power" than they are about the people who put them in their perk-laden jobs.

Labor did it pretty cleanly though - none of the bullshit we're seeing from the libs, they put in place rules to stop the sort of crap the libs are going through (need 65% of MPs & sentators in favour before there's a spill of the opposition leader, 75% if it's the P.M, leader decided by vote of both parliamentarians and party members) but the biggy is the ALP never went around claiming they were better the libs cos they didn't dump leaders.

They got 43 signatures.
55 minutes to go ......

Three way race with Peter Dutton, Julie Bishop, and Scott Morrison

Why is the party choosing the new PM?

Why isn't this put to the PEOPLE you know the ones that matter in the form of an early election?

And then we all laughed and laughed and laughed...

This indicates Turnbull will stay on to maintain the Govt majority, at least until the next election.

Mr Potato Head can go and skulk on the backbench with the Onion and the Beet.

Frydo overwhelmingly elected deputy. Outright majority.

EDIT - News.com.au is only showing a basic HTML page.

Still I want to ask

Simple. Because they still want power.

The only, the only, jobs they are worried about... is their own. And in response to that...

The best summary of the 7 prime ministers in 11 years saga that both "sides" of politics have inflicted on this country, from an SMH editorial on Wednesday:

The common thread in these turgid sagas is that a group of highly paid lawmakers devote their time to settling internecine vendettas and scrapping over the baubles of power without a thought for the best interests of the millions of voters who put them in their jobs.

Whatever party they belong to, they're all the same. Labor are no better, however much they and their acolytes try to delude themselves to the contrary. It's pathetic. Surely we can do better than this crap.

Oh, well. At least we didn't end up with the xenophobic Islamophobic racist bigot who could give lessons to Trump in how to treat people like shit. Be thankful for small mercies in the so-called "lucky country" these days.

@Orac Zen two things.

One, I do believe Labor cares more about the people in the lower economic end of tings, as opposed to ther LNP who really do seem to cater to the Big End of Town. That said...

Two, yes, as I said earlier, when they talk about jobs they mean their jobs. The only real answer: go to meetings for the party of your preference, and make sure better people get pre-selected. And not fucking lawyers. Remember Shakespeare, in Henry VI. The problem is there are too many maniacal, egotistical lawyers (see the new season of Rake).

Newspoll is due this week so will be interesting to see what the results are for the coalition.

Might be a bounce that will get the newscorpes papers excited but doui it will last long.

Also think the hard right of dutton, abbot et Al will still be there causing trouble. Morrison is comparatively modetamo and they don't like him much . more than Turnbull.

The pricks at 2gb, skynews and andrew dolt will also be pissed their men potato Head and the mad monk are nowhere.

The mad thrashing about next week will have some entertainment value.

A couple of people had raised the "coincidence" of Murdoch being in Australia when all this is going on, and how in the 8 days leading up to the spill there were 740 stories on News Corp media (radio and print) vilifying Turnbull. Pure coincidence of course.

the sooner that old bastard is 6 feet under, the better

Hopefully labor wins the next election and takes a very close look at the media in Australia and the role that murdoch plays. Given he's no longer a citizen he should just fuck off.
