Klingon change for season 2?

Judging from the trailer, TPTB are listening. The backlash over the Klingon makeup has been overwhelming, and I'm willing to bet that, with Fuller gone, they're going to make certain adjustments, cut back on the rubber and silicone.

They got the make up application time down to 2 hours.

I might be misremembering, but I think that is less time then it took Dorn in TNG.

Is there any news/discussion/data point/trailer/tweet that comes out that doesn't almost immediately devolve into a "prime / canon or not" discussion? I don't really mind, I'm glad you all are enjoying it. I'm just asking for a weird friend who thinks it's an inane, overdone, repetitious, circular, irritating, and wasteful pursuit.
HEY...
Just because he has A Life...

:nyah:

I'd like to think they're going to add hair/beards/eyebrows, but this really could just mean new costumes.

Just a couple with some TNG/DS9 styled hair would be great. So we know that the bald look was a choice or particular to certain Klingons. Would also be nice to see some weapons with slightly more simple shapes so they actually look like Klingon weapons, and maybe some ships what look a little more like the ones we know.

Keep the new stuff they designed, some was quite good, but add in the existing aesthetic too. This way the Klingons are added to rather than redesigned.

This is what Glenn Hetrick tweeted:

“You’re gonna be blown away that the Klingons have a new look going into season 2.”

I speculated awhile back that an interesting workaround for the Klingon appearance would be the "unreliable narrator" effect. Essentially we know that certain aspects of DIS were highly stylized (like Burnham's trial) or almost certainly stylized (like Ash's memory of surgery, which seemed to involve nothing more advanced than a Victorian operating theater. Perhaps Klingons only looked monstrous because Burnham was a bigot and terrified of them? Thus the retcon could be explained as us now seeing the Klingons as they always really were?

Of course, there are tons of other options, including:

  1. Head shaving was in fashion, and it is no longer
  2. Some sort of ENT like augment-arc happening again
  3. Multiple types of Klingons exist, we somehow missed all of them last season
  4. DIS jumps into a slightly alternate universe, which is the real PU
  5. A Q did it!
Am I missing anything?

...The Klingon leadress, in a dramatic moment indeed, is privately swallowing some Cardassian voles whole when our hero sneaks behind her and tears off that hideous mask, revealing something else altogether beneath?

Well, Glenn Hetrick promised to blow us way. We'll see.
True, it would probably take more than a costume to blow us away. They always say stuff like that though. I certainly hope to be blown away by their newfound hair but I'd hate to be disappointed if it doesn't happen.

Klingons with Hair!

Why? Because when they bring back TNG, no way is Worf going to be bald. Hence, "The Klingons have a new look!" Which is the old look... just not as old as the '60s.

Not only are Klingons morphing from series to series, what about poor Worf? Michael Dorn's makeups were in a perpetual state of constant refinement and re-invention. Honestly, I'm very under the impression that Michael Westmore, The Makeup Man, didn't have enough to keep him busy ... and occupied. Idle hands and all that ...

Hmm.. maybe not speak in Klingon? I mean, I like Anime and subtitles.. but.. not on star trek.. Abit here or there is fine.. not long winded speaches.. -_-
Just put hair on them, or show some background ones with hair.. I mean, Big point in Kahless is forging the first batleth from.. wait for it.. a lock of his own hair.. :)

In my completely unfounded opinion, there will be some Into Darkness-style Klingons (or something closer to that). If you watch closely in the background in the Klingon scene from Into Darkness, there are Klingons with hair and beards. I think the Into Darkness design would mesh well the with Disco Klingon design, as I wouldn't think they would be completely tossing it aside with characters like L'Rell still being a major part of the show.

How they'll explain the minor differences in the Klingons? I don't know. But do they really have to?

The only reason why the main Klingon in Into Darkness was bald to begin with is because his hair/beard kept on getting caught in the helmet when it was removed, screwing up the scene. If they had solved the issue some other way, we likely would never have had bald Klingons in Discovery.

Yeah, they kinda do, considering T'Kuvma's whole movement was founded on ideas of at least cultural, if not racial, purity. If we find out that the Klingon Empire has always included several different species and/or hybrids without any further explanation, it will be hard to square away.
