Season 2 Teaser

Okay enough with this TMP nonsense from you, you're going in circles. And I've refuted those tired points before.

If you want to respond to my posts and start a discussion, bring something new to the table.
I don't need to. No one has refuted them in any meaningful way. TMP is as jarring as Discovery, in fact more so since it is only a 3 year gap.
Also, you answered your own question:
Sadly, after STD, the prequel concept has been done and done to death. Any chance of an April or Pike Enterprise series died with STD.

Whatever show comes next for Star Trek needs to move away from the TOS era.
Prequels have been done by Star Trek multiple times with mixed results. I am not convinced that continuing on with a prequel series would be well received or wise in terms of production. Would I love to see an April or Pike series? Absolutely, but I would also love to see the Franz Josephs' designs come to life in a series too. I don't always get what I want and I don't see a prequel being a good choice.

Good example but there, the characters were likeable as well, so it worked.
I thought the scene humanized them all, especially Michael, very well. I love Michael and want even more after this trailer.

Anson looks great for his age, but he definitely wouldn't be right for a Pike 10 years ago.

He's 45. How old is Pike supposed to be in the year STD season 2 takes place? It looks like they artificially aged him for Season 2. I don't think it would be a problem for him to pull off 35 if they wanted to.

It was fantastic. Anti fanwank dudes may want to avoid this for the sake of their health but I loved it. The scene with Tig Notaro was funny, hopefully this means more humor. And I hope Linus is a semi-regular and not just in one elevator scene.
Linus needs to be shown carrying a blanket just once during the second season.
(or even a very over-sized hanky)
:guffaw:

A Pike series would have been the same.

I'm talking about an April series. I never wanted a Pike series, too close to the TOS era for comfort.

At least with April, you can make the world of 2245 look vastly different. You have a bigger playground to play in.

The only reason I'm mentioning a Pike series is, because like I said, the echo-chamber will be begging for a Pike/Enterprise spinoff after he shows up on STD, predictably. He will definitely be the scene stealer. An easy task when you have a 'lead' as boring as Burnham.

Yeah. I hope they keep her around. I literally laughed out loud at that. But then I laugh at pretty much anything she does.

I dunno, he seems to match Jeffery Hunter's look.

My bad.

Yep, but the vast majority of their mission has already happened. The characters and crew have already grown into proficient heroes by 2258/9. That doesn't leave much room for development, starting a series towards the midpoint to tail-end of the mission.
I'm not looking for a Pike show, but generally speaking, I'd rather watch a well-formed crew act like professionals than a new crew trying to grow into proficient heroes. The story of their growth is the unnecessary Origin Story of their more interesting later stories. There's a reason Origin Stories are nearly universally hated: there's a reason it was Backstory.
An April series would have been far more preferable.... since it's 20 years before Kirk and gives a lot of breath and time for things to look and seem tonally different.
Yep, the further you go from established PrimeTimelineEras, the less it matters that it doesn't link up perfectly.

LOL. According to you.

Exactly.

You are playing with fire setting a trek series just a few years before Kirk, and several years after The Cage.

Of course, I think after this season, people will genuinely just perceive STD as it's own thing. As soon as we see the Enterprise, we're gonna be in for a jarring shift from what we're used to.

so. kelvin timeline confirmed, huh?

The whole trailer does look very, very Kelvinish in contrast to the first season.

But it's a trailer.

And yeah, the marketing folks seem to have noticed the enthusiasm for The Orville.

All it would take is one throw-away line from any character, saying that event's from Archer's Era (ENTERPRISE) may have somehow altered the "Prime Universe" as we knew it and all will be well again.

I'll spend some time reading through all the comments, but wow...that looks unexpectedly fun. Better visuals, better tone, and seemed to highlight a lot of honest-to-goodness jokes.

The one, and only one thing I didn't like about it was SMG as Burnham. She seems weirdly out of place still giving these dour Season 1 monologues with all the fun whipping around her. It might be due to editing however.

Just watched the trailer. Looks like they're trying to add "Orville" like humor to the series. Problem is that works in the Orville because the characters are likeable. Just comes off as weird in this.

It looks as if marketing put together a trailer that mimics The Orville. That does not mean the show will play this way at all.

This the TNGVerse revision of the 23rd century, not the TOSVerse version.
