Season 2 Teaser

You're not wrong. It was the weakest gag

It was the only genuinely funny part of the trailer for me.

Food for thought:

Pike's "Hit it" is obviously derivative of "Punch it." But consider this Pike didn't base his entire career on the Narada attack suggesting he might be a bit more even-keeled and prone to less aggressive language.

I would've liked it if he had said "engage", instead.

MOAR!!!!!!

Loved the shots of the Enterprise from Discovery. Hands down the more appealing ship to the eye!

Can't wait to see Spock at the end of the season. Where's DigificWriter, by the way?...

Why?

Better to draw a connection from a recent popular film than a 50-year-old pilot that never [initially] aired and was cut up into scraps.

That is such a strange response that I struggle to find how to reply to it.

Are you seriously asking me why I would've enjoyed, as a fan of the original show and of the first pilot, for the character to use the same phrase as he did in that episode, simply because the more recent movie is better known by other people?

That is so bizarre.

Per my point above. I wonder if distinguishing the [recent] Pikes doesn't play to the inevitable timeline twist cliffhanger?

First reaction listening to Michael's voice. Honestly, f*ck that. Her droning ruins everything. Second reaction is probably not a popular one, but things came to life with Pike. He's going to be another scene-stealer. And the music worked. And I feel a little sad how secondary the Discovery gang come off. Tilly and the stupid maths high five. Geeze she's a prized dick. Saru is the only one that really stood out for the Discovery team with any presence. I've grown to like him.

I see the need for a Spock reference. He and past Trek references are the only reason/s that makes Michael as a character relevant.

It was 100% Obvious Spock would show up or be mentioned as at this point in time with the Enterprise he is still canonically part of Pike's crew.

I have to admit: I thought the "we don't see Spock because he's on leave" explanation offered early on was a cheap way out of showing the character. But here we are!...

I like how the trailer only shows Spock's quarters, but nothing else from the Enterprise. The bridge is the carrot to draw people in to the season premiere.

This is going to be the biggest thing repeated on this forum for the next couple years... guaranteed.

People are going to want to see the adventures of the Enterprise under Pike, instead of Discovery.

I'll bet any money that there's gonna be an echo chamber across the net for an 'Enterprise/Pike' spinoff series after his episodes premiere...

Even though it would be silly to do so, since Pike is nearly at the end of his mission at this point.

I'm very easily pleased. The trailer was really exciting and fun, in my opinion. I watched it with my 10 year old son and we were pretty hyped by the end of it. Both of us chuckled at some of the humorous points. Both of us exclaimed a big fat "NOoooooo!" when it said coming in 2019. So, the trailer did what it was meant to do in this household: it got us wishing 2019 was already here so we that could see the new episodes asap.

Still roughly five years before Kirk takes over.

Yep, but the vast majority of their mission has already happened. The characters and crew have already grown into proficient heroes by 2258/9. That doesn't leave much room for development, starting a series towards the midpoint to tail-end of the mission.

The ideal way to handle a Pike series would have been to start it from the day he takes command, though... an April series would have been far more preferable.... since it's 20 years before Kirk and gives a lot of breath and time for things to look and seem tonally different.
