It's the 25%Jokes aside, I don't understand why they changed that.

It's always about the 25% (common, someone make a good Star Trek themed 25% meme)

I've always hated the panels overlaying panels look. It just looks haphazard.
I don't think they're actually overlayed, it's just the pattern.
It still looks sloppy. The smooth skin of the TOS Enterprise was intentional. Any repairs that needed to be made were designed to be made from the inside.
But that isn't modern, so we get garbage aztec patterns.
What exactly do you mean by "modern", then? You keep using that word but based on your posts I'm not sure it means what I mean when I use it.
I think I played that game.Stripes....why not just add some flames on the sides, in homage to this:

Acceptable to current audiences.
The panel tiles on the STDPrise look to be modeled on those of the U.S.S. Kelvin.
"Modern" is an odd word - there's nothing all that modern looking about the ship designs in STD.
It was on the cover of the first volume of James Blish's TOS adaptations.I think I played that game.

If you're a historian, "modern" means since the start of the 16th century."Modern" is an odd word - there's nothing all that modern looking about the ship designs in STD.
Weird. Looks sort of like the inside of the Brady Bunch house? And if you're an interior designer, "modern" means something that's now rather nostalgic.![]()
Yeah, and a lot of the furniture looks like TOS - because they just used it right off the showroom floors (and Herb Solow's kitchen).Weird. Looks sort of like the inside of the Brady Bunch house?
Too bad their Klingon toy didn't have any influenceHmmm....seems like Dinky Toys may have had some influence on the new design:
