I could say the same thing about TMP.There is nothing about the stories and the characters in DSC that is remotely like TOS.

You can, but the actual story line of The Motion Picture explains everything but the Klingon changes.I could say the same thing about TMP.
Not to my satisfaction. I'm picky sometimesYou can, but the actual story line of The Motion Picture explains everything but the Klingon changes.
And those changes were generally accepted after the movie came out, as being a different off-shoot of Klingon society.
(at least till "ENTERPRISE" and its "Augment" theory)

... a lot can happen in almost two years to change a persons outlook on life. Not to my satisfaction. I'm picky sometimes
Also, Kirk's behavior, Spock's behavior as well as some of the tech seems inconsistent with TOS. It doesn't fit seamlessly.
STC did a good finale that leads to those character changes. Not official but worth the viewNot to my satisfaction. I'm picky sometimes

I agree, a lot can happen. Just like a lot can happen in 10 years before TOS. That's the point. If TMP is acceptable changes after two years then DSC is acceptable for ten.... a lot can happen in almost two years to change a persons outlook on life.
Hell, sometimes it only takes a moment.
Kirk and Crew came back to a Hero's Welcome they probably didn't really want and then most of them ended up in positions that clearly weren't what they expected.
Spock, McCoy & Scotty were probably the only ones that were actually doing what they truly wanted to do.
That's a pretty through explanation for me.

They don’t need to explain themI'll be more comfortable with DISCOVERY if they eventually give us a bit of dialogue (occasionally) to explain Their changes.

Yep you missed it.No, I meant TMP. Why would you think otherwise? Or did I miss the joke?
Yep. Nonsensically radical changes need no explanation. Especially the extraordinarily nonsensically radical ones. They're the best. At that point, the viewer should be providing the explanations. Star Trek meets Twin Peaks. Laura Palmer is part of the mycelial network. They don’t need to explain them
Just like they didn’t need to explain the Klingon changes.

Just generally being a jerk.Well, Spock did go through Kolinahr. What is it about Kirk that's inconsistent?
Admiral Kirk never shot a bowl of cookies, at least.Just to Decker, and just because he's dating his girl.
Plus, being an Admiral really sucks. Look at how many of them became evil over the years.
It's probably long-term effects of being in warp fields or cumulative transporter use or something. They should look into that.Plus, being an Admiral really sucks. Look at how many of them became evil over the years.
Still a jerk.Just to Decker, and just because he's dating his girl.
