USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

I don't know if this has been posted here or not (I was on hiatus for a while and when I started reading through 50 pages last night it got bogged down with the communicator-cell phone discussion) but this is a great watch. I am really starting to appreciate the shorter neck in its own right:

I'm suddenly wondering what the reaction would've been if they decided to use the TMP Enterprise for the finale of Discovery.

Personally, I'm getting quite relaxed with the whole thing.

Had they gone that route, I would have figured that it was 'before its time', in the sense of being 'futuristic', it was met with disapproval by conservatives, and was closeted for a while until a later date when conditions were more favorable and it was trotted out again to better reception.

Little imaginative exercises to explain something are better than just sitting around complaining.

Of course, the imagination can also make fun of the complaining:

Orson Welles: "WE WILL DEBUT NO ENTERPRISE DESIGNS BEFORE IT IS TIME!"

Nah you mean the Abramsprise, can't use the TMP Enterprise due to timeline but funnily enough the looks and nacelles would fit in perfectly to the Starfleet ships we have seen like the Europa.

Plus it would look like a minnow next to the Discovery, it would also need a trailer to carry all the food, water and spares it would need for a 5 year mission. ;)

Not in the way it’s portrayed in TOS, it doesn’t. The redesign of the Enterprise is proof enough of that.
Just visually, the important part are the stories and the characters. all of that still happened the same was as TOS. The design of the Enterprise doesn't change that.
