Andrew Lincoln leaving The Walking Dead (Season 9)

Wow, that's going to be tough for the show to deal with. Carl, Maggie, and now RIck. They're probably regretting killing off Glen at this point. Maybe they should consider bringing back Morgan.

The show will run for 20 years. There will be another spinoff. I just hope they give Andy and Lauren good sendoffs.

Why does everyone keep saying this is Rock's show...this isn't 24...which was supposed to be an ensemble show but then got turned to the Jack Bauer show.

Speaking of a Jack....Lost started and ended with Jack...but it was truly an ensemble show.

If Rick goes...Judith can easily be put on the wayside and just mentioned on occasion.

With Maggie...she is STILL pregnant...so her absence might be excused by the birth, baby or her own health. We shall see what her fate actually is.

This quite big news, I'm surprised that newspapers have been covering it and spoiling his departure.

Considering that they're offering Norman Reedus a deal to be bumped up to star, I'm beginning to wonder whether to tune in next season or call it quits. I mean I love Daryl and everything but it will be a different show, especially as we already lost Carl last year.

Only having Maggie in 6 episodes is odd as well.

After killing off Carl in season 8, Rick dying would be the final nail in the coffin. It might be time to have the characters find that miracle community and call it a series. TWD cannot survive with Daryl as the lead/series focus. ...and what happens to Michonne?
Agree. TWD jumped the shark a while back. I watched it from it's beginning in 2010, but it's no longer a series that I care about continuing. I wish that NG or DS9 have gone onto seasons 8, 9 or 10 instead.

If season 9 does do the time jump the comics did after the Negen storyline, then I suspect season 9 will begin with Maggie having long ago given birth and her kid will be two or three years old or something.

If true...it would be bold for the show to keep going. That would TRULY make it that ANYONE can die on the show.

I look forward to next season...

If they had did this many years ago I would agree. Today though it feels more like the "X-Files" going on without Mulder all those years ago.

"I'm surprised newspapers chose to cover big news". Again, this isn't a spoiler. It's business news concerning an actor and his projects. The spoiler would be how Rick leaves the show.
I would say it is a spoiler... Glenn ( one of my favorites, certainly over Rick) and Carl were HUGE surprises.

Some you can't really hide...like Sonequa with her DSC role or Cliff Curtis in Avatar...but if you can...

But if they kept his departure a surprise, then they couldn't exploit it for promotional purposes. I'm sure that ratings the night of his last episode will be high as a lot of lapsed viewers join in just to see what happens.

Why is everyone so "shocked they gave away the spoiler"? This sort of thing happens all the time, and even when they don't announce it in a newspaper headline, actor contracts are typically public anyway, and indeed people have been accurately predicting for years who will be written out of their shows at any given time due to the contract information. Also, when a lead actor leaves their show, this generally does turn heads and get noticed. Just look at when RDA left SG-1 over a decade ago.

Rick is and always has been the focus of TWD--its his story as established in the pilot. The series followed him, his search for and protection of his family.

So now Maggie's leaving too then? I think they should just kill the show after the next season. Reedus isn't a lead, he's the cool guy who hangs around in the background and if you push him to the forefront I think the show will struggle. It's getting to the point where there just won't be anyone I'm that invested in anymore soon.

Am I the only one whose eyes keep being tricked by this thread? I keep thinking it says Abraham Lincoln is leaving the walking dead in season 9 yet I know better. Though that would make for a really cool zombie for next season. Wasn't his body put in a toom or something and it kepth being stolen yet I think they got it back. Also did Lennin come back as a walker as well?
